I know it's mine, but... detailed main text, ten examples (more if you count subpoints), well-equipped with categories. Can we help clear out the Workshop by letting this one out?
Talk:Big Lie
Hmmmmm... Most of the examples are in Real Life, and I like to see that section be one of the smaller ones in a trope... but there's nothing obviously wrong with what we have. I'm okay with a launch.
And no one's objected in over two weeks. I'm going to take the lack of a "no" as morally equivalent to a "yes", and launch this, if only to thin out the Workshop a hair.
Is there any overlap between the two concepts? Or, from a troping point of view, could they possibly be the same trope?
Hm. Wikipedia distinguishes between the two -- "Big Lie" is a "see also" link at the end of that page -- but you're right, there seems to be a significant overlap between them. I don't think it would hurt our article to incorporate the Noble Lie into it, and use it as a redirect.
Saw this on Twitter today and was inclined to think that the entire idea of the 2020 election hoax probably counts as one of these... does it?
It's already there, the next to last item in the Real Life section.
EDIT: Although it's definitely worth adding that some elements have refused to give it up.
Ah, right! My mistake for not double-checking.
