• Executive Meddling: The last episodes of the first season aired in other countries well over a month before they will air in the US, because Disney/Marvel wanted to finish out the season to match up with the releases of the Thor and Captain America movies.
  • The second season will deviate from overarching stories and end with 12 self-contained episodes, because the children in the test audiences had less trouble following one-part stories. Also, those episodes will place an increased focus on Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and The Hulk, for the convenience of viewers more familiar with the Avengers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe than those from this cartoon, or those from the comics. Fans have yet to discover what this means for Avengers who have yet to receive solo movies.
  • Ultimate Spider-Man has become a cause of great misery for EMH fans, and not just because the next Avengers cartoon will apparently share its universe. Producer Josh Fine's Twitter page says that Marvel Animation managed to reach episode 39 by June 2011, but a later panel at Comic-Con revealed that Disney XD will not air episodes 27-52 until the release of Ultimate Spider-Man...in 2012. Then, after Ultimate Spidey earned an undeniably large hatedom, Disney XD decided to run some new Ultimate Spidey episodes without new Earth's Mightiest Heroes adventures after them, to see if they deserve the credit for Marvel Universe's ratings. Then, an Earth's Mightiest Heroes episode guest-starring Josh Keaton as Spider-Man got redubbed by Ultimate Spidey's VA, Drake Bell, apparently without Josh's consent. A Twitter movement ^{[dead link]} for getting Marvel to release the undubbed versions has begun.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Mark Hamill voices Klaw.
  • Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Sora, Ino, Jazz Fenton, Neliel, Loly Aivirrne, and Genis Sage) voices The Wasp and Vapor.
  • Fred Tatasciore is the Hulk once again, The Thing again as well, Graviton, Mandrill, Volstagg, Fernis, Yon Rogg, and Red Hulk.
    • Likewise, in regards to the Hulk, Gabriel Mann reprises his role from Wolverine and the X-Men as Bruce Banner.
    • Also, in regards to the Fantastic Four, David Kaufman reprises his Ultimate Spider-Man/Marvel: Ulimate Alliance 2 role of the Human Torch. Additionally, Dee Bradley Baker (Klaus, Perry and Ferb, all of the clone troopers, Dr. Curt Conners, every Omnitrix/Ultimatrix alien sans Rath, Ghostfreak, and Upgrade since Ben 10 Alien Force) is Mister Fantastic, Erin Torpey (Athena, Jessica Buchanan) is the Invisible Woman, Lex Lang (Ecliptor, Goemon Ishikawa XIII, Captain Cold) is Doctor Doom, and Kirsten Potter (Cassandra Moore, Inquisitor Adrastia) is Lucia von Bardas.
  • Eric Loomis reprises the role of Iron Man from the tie-in game for Iron Man 2.
  • Kari Wahlgren (Charmcaster and Saturn Girl) is Jane Foster, the Enchantress again, and Karnilla.
  • Alex Desert is Nick Fury again.
  • Rick D. Wasserman (Clayface and another Hulk) voices Thor and Absorbing Man. He also voices Surtur in Season 2.
  • Phil LaMarr is JARVIS and Wonder Man.
  • Nolan North is Balder, Jimmy Woo, Living Laser, Piledriver, and Chemistro.
  • Jeffrey Combs (Scarecrow, Ratchet, and The Question) is the Leader.
  • Robin Atkin Downes (Luxord, The Medic, Travis Touchdown, and Mumm-Ra) voices Baron Zemo and Abomination.
  • Brian Bloom (Ultraman, Varric) voices Captain America.
  • Wally Wingert (Renji Abarai and The Riddler) voices Ant-Man (aka Giant Man)--effectively reprising the role of Hank Pym from Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, albeit he was Yellowjacket there--Ultron pre-reprogramming, and MODOK, whom he also voiced in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
  • The Grim Reaper is voiced by Lance Henriksen (Bishop and Lockdown).
  • Chris Cox (Captain Atom, Shining Knight, and Deadshot) is Hawkeye, Crimson Dynamo, and Fandral.
  • Vanessa Marshall (Mary Jane Watson and Wonder Woman) voices the Black Widow and Madame Hydra.
  • Clancy Brown voices Odin.
  • Steve Blum voices James Howlett (which really isn't all that surprising) and Red Skull. He's also Beta Ray Bill in Season 2.
  • Scott Menville voices another teenage superhero sidekick, Bucky.
    • Jon Curry (Yaag Rosch) is Winter Soldier.
  • Cam Clarke (Kratos Aurion, Liquid Snake, Leonardo in the 80's TMNT cartoon, and another Thor) voices Doc Samson, Constrictor, and Vector.
  • Jonathan Adams (Dormammu and Martian Manhunter) voices Kang the Conqueror.
    • And Cindy Robinson (V.V., Inoue, Miyako Shiba, Kukaku Shiba) voices his lover, Ravonna.
  • Troy Baker (Van Kleiss, Espio, Two-Face, Nova and Pain) voices Whirlwind, Blizzard, Grey Gargoyle, Clay Quartermain, Ulik, Faradei, Sydren, Groot, Michael Korvac, and Glenn Talbot. Korvac also counts as Playing Against Type.
  • Kari Wuhrer (Maggie Beckett and Reese Marshall) voices Maria Hill.
  • Kevin Michael Richardson voices Man-Ape and N'Gassi.

  • Like several of the aforementioned voice actors reprising their roles, when Ultron was reprogrammed to fight Kang, Tom Kane also reprised the role, though the initial voice he used for non-evil Ultron was basically the voice he used for HOMER, Iron Man's AI in the mid-90s' cartoon. Tom also voices Jasper Sitwell.

  • Grey DeLisle is once again Betty Brant, and JK Simmons is once again J. Jonah Jameson.
    • Daran Norris (Cosmo, Timmy's dad, Vincent, Knock Out, and another J. Jonah Jameson) is the police officer at the start of the episode.
  • Peter Jessop (Sovereign, Brainiac, Soundwave) voices Vision.
  • In Latin America, Hank Pym is voiced by Mario Castañeda, aka MacGyver, aka Spanish-Bruce Willis, aka Goku.
• No Export for You: DVDs in the United Kingdom lack the episode introducing Captain America, Bucky, and Kang the Conqueror.
• Screwed by the Network: This show got slightly "screwed by the cable companies", as Disney XD was dropped from most basic cable packages in the US right around the time the show premiered, leading to a lot of frustration from fans who want it to be put somewhere more easily visible.
  • Marvel's video website used to have the complete first season available for free streaming, but it later disappeared without warning or explanation.
• Shout-Out:
  • The episode titles tend to be homages to classic comic story titles.
  • The opening scenes of "Iron Man is Born!" are a clear reference to Cloverfield.
  • "Tick tick boom."
  • Blizzard's costume recalls both Captain Cold and Doc Permafrost.
  • The battle with Graviton in "The Breakout pt 2" involves Giant-Man picking up an oil tanker and throwing it at him.
  • "459" gave us a giant robot with tentacles that makes a deep resonating sound bent on destroying all life on Earth. Where have I heard that before?
  • "Masters of Evil" has a part with Hulk watching a commercial for "Kirby Kibble Dog Food," enriched with "Kirby Dots of real beef."
  • The Avengers and the Masters of Evil running towards each other in a flash of light feels reminiscent of Challenge of the Superfriends, as well as the opening to the 90's X-Men.
  • "Ultron. We would have words with thee."
  • Disney XD's custom intro for episodes 20 onward refers to Captain America as, "Captain America, the first Avenger."
  • One of the photos Wasp took in the tie-in comic "Team" has a caption reading, "Wow. Just...wow. 'Nuff said."
  • Another shout out involves something from behind the scenes, many fans felt Marvel was a sell out but its to similar to an episode that introduces Wonder Man (purple guy, made of ionic energy) who had a failing business, as Iron Man stated "..I didn't buy him out to finish him, I bought his company to save it." - Many many fans feel this was a hint.
  • After Captain America asks Johnny Storm which member of the Fantastic Four he is, Johnny exclaims, "How could you not remember?" In context, Johnny probably feels frustrated that Cap would forget the time he saved him, but viewers could also interpret this as a reference to Chris Evans playing both characters in live-action movies.
  • Much of the Baxter Building matches the style used in Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes.
    • The second season premiere even references the story where Doom shot the Baxter Building into space.
  • The episode Along Came a Spider features an abridged quote from The Amazing Spider-Man #537. This is followed up with Spider-Man asking if he can be Cap's sidekick rather than his snarky/admiring response from the comic.
• The Other Marty: As mentioned in Executive Meddling, Josh Keaton was going to reprise his The Spectacular Spider-Man role of Spider-Man himself and had already recorded his lines, but it was decided to have Drake Bell of Ultimate Spider-Man redub the lines.
• Take That: The creators of the show made the chest piece of Tony's Mark IX triangular as a private middle finger to Joss Whedon, who said the triangle "looks like ass" (the films have him wearing the Mark VII).
• Talking to Himself:
  • Graviton and Hulk have the same voice actor. This goes on into Season 2 where Fred Tatiascore voices Hulk and the Thing, who spend most of their episode arguing and fighting.
  • Rick D Wasserman also voices Thor and the Absorbing Man, who have a fight in Gamma World while exchanging battle cries.
  • Baron Zemo and Abomination are both voiced by Robert Atkins Downs, and the it turns out that they are the two Masters of Evil who argue the most.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The show contains elements from what was originally going to be a Hulk series. This is probably why many of the Hulk's Rogues Gallery appear on the show since they don't normally menace the Avengers (aside from Absorbing Man).
  • Some of the first choices for the Avengers' foe in "Breakout, Part 2" included Doctor Doom and Magneto. However, it apparently seemed inappropriate for "Earth's mightiest heroes" to team up and defeat someone another superhero team had fought many times before.
  • Ron Wasserman, the composer of the themes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and X-Men, had tried pitching this as a theme song.
  • This trailer boasts voices and animation that differ from the actual show.
  • The lyrics to an extended version of "Fight as One" would have included these.
• Word of God: According to Chris Yost during one of Marvel's live blogs for the show, this series exists in the same universe as Wolverine and the X-Men, as can be seen here.

Chris Yost: Avengers is neither sequel nor spiritual successor to 'Wolverine and the X-Men' -- it's the Avengers. But they were more or less intended to be in the same universe. Regardless of which eye Fury's patch was on.
