Tatsudoshi

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.
"Hey everybody, I'm Tatsudoshi!" "I'm Spazzy!" AND I'M COOOOOOOOOOOORNANDBOURBAN!" "OW! Dammit, my ears!"
—Tatsudoshi, Spazzy and Corn, a normal day in the life of Multipurpose Spam.

Tatsudoshi was a YouTube channel focused on Let's Play videos. The main guy was called Tatsudoshi (his real name is Kdin Jenzen). He, DocSigma, and Yuuri all lived together in Austin, Texas (Corn N' Bourbon opted to not join them). The first LP Tatsu has ever done was of Marchen Adventure Cotton, a Japanese side-scrolling shoot-em-up, and since then, he has branched out to do games from different systems, like Goof Troop, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Left 4 Dead (the 360 version). The earlier LPs used to be low-quality, but they later switched to HD. However, the LPs are called Spam Plays after the name of their group, Multipurpose Spam. Tatsu sometimes co-oped with another YouTube user named The Khold One. Notable co-ops included Tetris & Dr. Mario, Mega Man Soccer, DocSigma's First Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Filler, Super Mario World, and Super Khold World, which Khold created and Tatsu raged on.

In 2013, Jenzen joined Rooster Teeth's Achievement Hunter as a full-time video editor. He has created a video series for them about upcoming video games called Coming Soon, which he hosts. Unfortunately, around that time and later in 2014, many changes to YouTube and the demands of his former partner network has proved to be so much trouble for him (as explained on the Trivia page) that he eventually had to end Multipurpose Spam.

Tropes associated with Tatsudoshi and Multipurpose Spam...
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The AI tends to be this way in Left 4 Dead where they will either be mindbendingly stupid or yelling-at-the-game for being so stupid
    • "BILL! FRANCIS! STOP JERKING EACH OTHER OFF AND HELP ME!"
  • Angrish: Tatsudoshi lapsed into this during Tetris & Dr. Mario vs Khold part 2 when Khold accidentally puts him on level 9. He also did this during the start of the Super Khold World playthrough when Khold blazed through the first couple levels using tricks and exploits which Tatsu wasn't very pleased about.
  • Beta Couple: Of a sort, Corn and Dergin are apparently dating.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Tatsudoshi, which means "Year of the Dragon" in Japanese.
    • This may count as an example of Fridge Brilliance, because in the Japanese Calendar, 2012 is ...you guessed it, the Year of the Dragon, so which means 2012 is the year of Tatsudoshi.
  • Bowdlerize: During his early videos, Tatsu had a tendency to say "frick" instead of "fuck". Now that he's more established as an LP'er, he'll curse like a sailor and not give two thoughts about it.
  • Brick Joke: A minor one in the New Super Mario Bros. let's play, on the first level Tatsu makes comments about Wanda Sykes' recent (at the tie) campaign against the use of the word Gay to mean something sucks. It pops up again in the last level with Tatsu impersonating Bowser giving the same lecture.
  • Brilliant but Lazy: Corn is generally believed to be an idiot though he has shown skill being the one sent to San Jose to gain a job
    • Not to mention that when it comes to his favorite game Streets of Rage 2, he's absolutely masterful.
  • Catch Phrase : "AIDS FOOT!" Became one during the Condemned LP.
    • "Brought to you by Half Time!" Also became one during the Heavy Rain LP. Apparently only said during "fag" moments.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Oh hell yes. The videos that can qualify for this are pretty much all of his Left 4 Dead videos, his co-op with The Khold One on Super Khold World, and his Heavy Rain videos.
  • Country Matters: One of Spazzy's favorite words, which saw full usage during the New Super Mario Bros Wii LP.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Has its own page now
  • Did You Die?: Tatsu explains that after drinking a Final Fantasy X Potion, he died right then and there, and his spirit is really talking to us.
  • Foreshadowing: Numerous Let's Plays have had them foreshadowing misfortune that befalls them any flavor of after the statement has been made.
    • Spazzy: This game is dark as shit.
    • Tatsu: It gets brighter at the end.
    • Spazzy: Yeah at the end, if you make it.
    • (tank shows up)
    • Tatsu: Of course! OF FUCKING COURSE!
  • Gargle Blaster: Numerous reviews of soft drinks Multipurpose Spam does on their site. None of them are alcoholic, but that doesn't make them any less repulsive.
  • Gilligan Cut: The following is a pseudo example:
    • Tatsu: Y'know what? No! We aren't going that way, fuck that Ghost House!
    • -Vines Block Everything But The Ghost House-
    • Corn: (Possibly channeling the spirit of the game) You're going to the Ghost House.
  • Gentle Giant: Corn is confirmed to be over 6 feet tall and around 200 pounds but loves kittens
    • Corn : YOU HURT THE KITTY!!
    • Apparently upon meeting Little Dergin for the first time, Corn invited the diminutive girl into his backpack in something that one can only imagine to be one of the most adorable things ever...
      • Followed by a Crowning Moment of Funny where it turned out small though she may be, she was still heavy enough for the straps to snap.
  • Hilariously Abusive Childhood: The Princess Maker 2 Spam Play seems to be shaping up to be this.
    • Averted in that, unless Tonya (the Princess) is lying through her teeth, she's loving every minute of it.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: During the Mirror's Edge Spam Play, Corn makes a quip that one of the characters looks like The Joker mixed with Colonel Sanders and Khold's reply is "If it is, that chicken tastes a little funny."
    • One during the Mirror's Edge was so bad that it caused Tatsu to take away one off Khold's racist joke limit.
  • Insane Troll Logic During a guest appearance on Crudecomms' (now the Basterd Brothers) playthrough of Fallout 3, he repeatedly demanded that KZX do things that are in impossible in the game (Ex: "Eat the robot! Equip eat and use on robot!"), which he justified by saying that KZX wasn't playing the game the right way.
  • Karma Houdini: You might say that the AI from both Left 4 Deads are this. When Tatsu & Spazzy were getting swarmed by a horde, Bill and Francis stood at the stairs mindlessly killing zombies, made many stupid decisions throughout both games leading Tatsu to bad-mouth them, and during the Left 4 Dead 2 Parish finale, Coach & Rochelle abandon Tatsu when he gets incapped to make it to safety. Tatsu and Corn both said at different points that they left him because they heard what he said, even though the yelling at them was totally justified.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: At the end of the first video, Sedisp and Officer Bomb were fighting a horde and Corn was getting choked by a Smoker and covered in bile, Tatsu decides to run to the end of the stage. The first video cuts off with a shot of the tank. The second video opens up with Tatsu getting smacked by the Tank and Sedisp says "Oh my god, what did you bring upon us"
  • Little Miss Badass: The Princess Maker 2 Spam play is invoking this
  • Looks Like Jesus: Tatsu's long hair gives people that impression.
  • N-Word Privileges: The other of Spazzy's favorite words. This one doesn't see much usage, though, only in certain situations.
  • Never Live It Down: A minor example from the Super Mario World Spam Play with Khold, Khold was playing and he came across a bat enemy and he said "Oh hey, a Tatzubat" and Tatsu started raging.
    • Another example which he is trying to make GD Joel into this is the "Eat the Robot" quote from Insane Troll Logic above.
  • One of Us: One of the coolest nerds out there. Their slogan on Multipurpose Spam is "If you nerd it, we nerd it."
    • They've also made reference to the TV Tropes Wiki during their Bayonetta playthrough, specifically on the Demonic Spiders page.
    • And they are aware of this page, which means they could be watching it right now! Aah.
      • Yes we are.
      • Tatsu is a confirmed Brony.
  • Refuge in Vulgarity: Their commentary definitely fits here.
  • Rule of Three: During the original Left 4 Dead No Mercy LP, Corn getting incapped by a single zombie.
  • Rule 34: Invoked by Spazzy
    • Spazzy: (about Bayonetta and Rodin) "How much porn is there on the internet of these two?"
  • Sharing a Body: Corn and Tatsu Co-Oped Psi-Ops: Mindgate Conspiracy this way. Painful to watch, if not hilarious.
  • Small Reference Pools: Subverted with how many references there are in a single video nonetheless. Where one person can watch and laugh at some jokes, another person can watch and laugh at a different set of jokes entirely.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: In every game that Tatsu and Corn play together.
  • Tempting Fate: During the Futurama Let's Play, Tatsu makes a comment that "this level's only going to take 6 minutes" How long the video was? 30 minutes
  • The Fake Cutie: DERGIN, she acts like she has the mindset of a little child, but is even more sadistic than Tatsu during the Bioshock 2 Spam Play.
  • The Unseen: Spazzy has never, nor will she ever, be shown on camera, because of creepy perverts and general people on the internet.
  • What Do You Mean It's Not for Kids?: The entire concept, which really didn't help with the Spam Plays of Kingdom Hearts, Goof Troop, Super Mario World that they did, which despite the kid-friendly games, the commentary is definitely not. Ex: The crew reading the in-game text with Corn using a deep-voiced black guy voice and saying "Touch any of my shit, I'ma go, I'ma stab you with my penis"
    • Tatsu's playthrough of Barney's Hide and Seek could count. Many people feel sorry for the kids that just wanted to watch an innocent gameplay video.
    • Also, Tatsu and Dergin's playthrough of Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster, which still has the vulgar commentary you'd expect of Multipurpose Spam.
    • Some time back, a "soccer mom" tried to get Tatsu to tune down the vulgarity because her kids were watching. Tatsu proceeded to give An Aesop about how (paraphrased) "you shouldn't get all angry that your kids are watching me, when you're the one that should be controlling what they watch and not trying to get me to control the way I act"
