I really can't stand lazy titles from TVT like this one. There must be a way of restructuring this in the form "Spider-Man (explanatory tag)" without getting too cumbersome. Anyone have any suggestions?

I suggest "The Amazing Spider-Man (Straczynski run)".

you could structure it like years for example [name of comic] [years of run]

Actually, I like Lulz' suggestion. We do try to model our naming conventions on Wikipedia, after all. And the article is written such that it doesn't assume you've gotten vital information from the title. So "The Amazing Spider-Man (2001-2007)" it is.
