95 percent of the time, they are associated. Because marriage is often intrinsically linked to reproduction, as "spreading this qualities through future generations" or simply "I want your traits to spread through my family".
And the "proper" way of doing it is through marriage.
However, this trope isn't about reproduction. It's about a stock phrase.
"Marry me!" is Engaging Conversation.
I know it's bad form to nominate my own tropes for launching, but hell, that's never stopped me before. A description I find more than sufficient, eight or nine examples (depending on how you count), more than the default categories... god knows we've got enough gumming up the Workshop, let's kick something that doesn't need the work out into Main.
And since no one's said no, and because the Trope Workshop is so horribly congested, I'm kicking this one out the door.
