What is this based on @Looney Toons ? I searched specifically for figures referencing "yards" and the only result referring to total wall being built in hundreds of yards was a CNN article that is not about the total length of wall (it's a few hundred yards out of a two mile section).

BBC from late 2020 claims 15 miles of totally new protection, plus 350 miles replacing or reinforcing existing. ABC doesn't dispute a hundred miles were built by the start of 2020. The New Yorker also states "three hundred and fifty miles" were constructed in 2020. None of these could remotely be called pro-Trump sources, yet they don't dispute the numbers were in the hundreds of miles.

I was referencing an article I cannot find at this time which described a few hundred-yard stretch of "demonstration" wall with a half-dozen or so different styles of metal wall, erected as a proof of concept. At the time it was written, it was already starting to collapse, being anchored poorly (cheap concrete, IIRC) and rusting badly. One of the photos in the article you link rings a bell -- it looks like what I remember of one part of the demo wall. What I do remember clearly is that demo wall was touted as the only construction that matched Trump's plans for a "big beautiful wall"; and I would argue that extending and repairing existing fencing doesn't count as "building a wall".

However I will acknowledge that your sources are better than my poor recollection of the article, and yield to you.

Can we launch this?

I know it's mine, but I have no shame. <grin>

It hasn't been touched in just under a month, but it's got everything we want -- good main text, lots of examples, categories. If anyone wants to add anything, they can do it after launch.

So... what do folks say?

HeneryVII (talkcontribs)

I'd say it looks good.

RivetVermin (talkcontribs)

Been wondering if you were waiting for anything else; I'd say yes

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I just noticed a typo inside a spoiler:

scamming their donars for the safety of civilization

Having never played the video game, I don't know whether "donars" should be "donairs" (pita sandwiches) or "donors" (people who give things or money".

Other than that, I'd say it's launchable.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Based on context I'm guessing it's "donors" (which I changed it to), but it wasn't one of my examples, so if someone familiar with the work in question knows better, feel free to fix it.

Jlaw (talkcontribs)

Let's do it! Voting to launch.

Agiletek (talkcontribs)

Yes, was meant to be donors. Yes to launch.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

Fire when ready, Gridley.

GentlemensDame883 (talkcontribs)

Looks good to me.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Okay, then... I guess at some point today I'll do the launch. And then I'll move my next candidate into the workshop.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Okay, now that I'm doing lunch, time to launch as well.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Launched, pimped, and xrefs added to other related tropes.
