  • Better on DVD: The editor's cut released in 2017 restored Christopher Young’s score, rearranged some scenes for better pacing and added in some deleted scenes.
  • Contested Sequel: The film is considered divisive by many people.
  • Fountain of Memes: Emo Peter Parker or "Bully Maguire" is the most quotable character.
  • Memetic Badass: Bully Maguire.
  • Memetic Mutation: Everything said by Bully Maguire is memorable.
    • "You want forgiveness? Get religion!"
    • "Gonna put some dirt in your eye."
    • "You're trash, Brock." Because of this, fans like to label trash cans with the name Eddie.[please verify]
  • Signature Line: "You'll get your rent when you fix this damn door!"
  • Signature Scene: Emo Peter Parker dancing to James Brown at the streets.
  • WTH Casting: While Topher Grace is good for a Spider-Man movie, he's unfit for Eddie Brock given that Eddie is usually muscular and bulky.
  • Vindicated by History: After the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, many people looked at this film in a better light since it was able to handle tons of subplots nicely. The editor’s cut also helped improve its reputation.
