Spider-Man: Far From Home is a 2019 superhero film directed by Jon Watts and the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. It is set after Avengers: Endgame. Tom Holland plays Spider-Man, with Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zendaya as MJ, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. It was followed by Spider-Man: No Way Home in December 2021.

While investigating a natural disaster in Mexico, Nick Fury and Maria Hill stumble on a creature apparently made out of air, and a super-powered hero called Quentin Beck, Mysterio. Six days later, a similar creature attacks Venice, Italy, while Peter is here on a school trip, only to be stopped by Mysterio.

Tired of Peter ghosting him, Fury sneaks into Peter's room so he and his team can finally give him information and instructions about what is happening. He also meets Beck, that affirms those creatures destroyed his world and they transitioned into the MCU because of Thanos' use of the Infinity Stones to kill half of all living beings. The Fire one is the only remaining by the time he met Peter, the one who destroyed Beck's Earth.

Tropes used in Spider-Man: Far From Home include:
  • Adaptational Heroism: Beck seems to have actual super-powers and not be a villain like his mainstream comic self, though it is also called to attention he is not from this universe, so an villainous alternate may be around. It turns out both of those facts are a lie, and he has engineering his heroic deeds to enrich himself, and is as evil as his 616 version.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Mysterio is defeated, but successfully frames Parker as his murderer and exposes his secret identity.
  • Big Bad: Quentin Beck/Mysterio turns out to be orchestrating the Elementals attack with the purpose of enriching himself.
  • Big Good: Nick Fury is the leader of the S.H.I.E.L.D. cell that helps Peter and Beck in fighting the Elementals and pairs them up in first place.
  • Busman's Holiday: Peter is on vacation on Europe and genuinely has no desire to fight criminals/aliens/monsters/etcetera while doing it. Then a giant creature made of water attacks Venice while he is there anyway.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Peter's entire class and his aunt were also erased by Thanos, so nobody is recast or taken out of the plot. Considering Thanos said his killing would be random, this puts the probability of everyone of that specific group being killed well under one percent.
  • Curse Cut Short: Spidey yells "What the f-" when his secret identity was exposed. This doubles as a Call Back to Spider-Man: Homecoming, when his Aunt May discovers that her nephew is Spider-Man.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Nick Fury/Talos tells Spidey not to mention Carol Danvers' name, which hints that Skrull shape-shifted as Fury.
    • Beck uses the wrong number for the MCU as designated by Marvel Comics. The only individuals that normally knows those numbers through the Marvel Multiverse are cosmic beings on the higher end of the scale, bordering on meta-fictional, and Deadpool. This hints he is either lying or was given wrong information. It's the first one and he was basically making things up all along.
  • Late Arrival Spoiler: The film's trailers spoiled Spider-Man surviving the Snap.
  • Mood Whiplash: The opening credits using Whitney Houston's cover of "I'll Always Love You" is unusual, but considering how bittersweet way Endgame ended some people don't would be surprised. Then "in memoriam" in Comic Sans appears and it will not take the viewer long to realize something weird is happening, ending up with the reveal it's an amateurish dedication to Tony and Natasha's sacrifices by high school students of Peter's school.
  • Original Generation: Peter's "Night Monkey" identity is entirely new to the movie.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise:
    • Peter uses a mask that only covers the superior half of his face when the Water Elemental first attacks, thanks to his suit being away.
    • The "Night Monkey" suit is supposed to hide Spider-Man is in Europe. It tricks absolutely nobody.
  • The Obi-Wan: Nick Fury/Talos takes this role from Tony Stark.
  • Sequel Goes Foreign: This film mostly takes place in Europe.
  • The Stinger:
    • A Daily Bugle broadcast framed Spidey for attacking Europe.
    • Talos and Soren posed as Fury and Hill.
  • Wham! Line: "Spider-Man's real name is Peter Parker!"
