Sakura Taisen/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Music of Awesome: The countless renditions of its opening theme, as well as the uplifting heroic battle theme from the first game "Do Your Best, Imperial Elite Strike Force!!".
    • As a side note -- acccording to the listings in the Sakura Taisen Song Box collection, the main theme has gone through eight different versions -- each growing in complexity, but yet remaining the same.
    • Main Theme 1 from Atsuki Chishio Ni
    • Warriors of the Earth from the fifth game is pretty dang great too.
  • Ear Worm: You try getting Geki!Tei out of your head. Bonus points if the dance has become reflexive. Yes, there is a dance. It even shows up in the manga as an occasional joke.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Ciseaux is probably the only Sakura Wars 3 villain known outside Japan thanks to his status as Recurring Boss in Project X Zone.
  • First Installment Wins: Note the amount of attention the first game and the Teikokukagekidan get in terms of adaptations and even information on this page. A character page has been started up recently, but it's still got a ways to go.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: Oda Nobunaga is the demonic Big Bad of Sakura Taisen V.
  • Les Yay: In the first game, Tsubaki has a crush on Maria, as shown by the Let's Play mentioned on the main page. Several other examples exist.
  • Most Annoying Sound: The sound of trust points dropping, especially in sequence.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Python, the true form of Karuchera from the third game.
  • Superlative Dubbing: The Ecole de Paris OVA.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Let's say Ouji Hiroi's career took a serious hit after the franchise was finished (along with Tengai Makyou), since he hasn't been able to create another successful game or franchise again. The last game he worked was an Otome Game for girls which is basically a Follow the Leader version ofHakuouki, and it's even more obscure than his previous works. On the other hand, this was averted with the rest of Red Entertaiment, since they're still making successful games, like Valkyria Chronicles and Gungrave.
  • What an Idiot!: YMMV a lot on NISA for selling the fifth game with no sure degree of success in the same month that Final Fantasy XIII came out.
    • On the other hand, it did get a lot of good reviews including an award from IGN.
