Midnight Oil by Bandit-sama

  • Recommended by Oracle Seven
  • Synopsis: Plans to build the Turbokat stared out as sketches on paper, and later flew through the sky like a bird and it came from the paws of two single kats but it took many nights to get there...many sleepless, coffee riddled nights and humid, food deprived days.
  • Comments: A detailed look at how Jake and Chance designed and built the Turbokat. The characterization is excellent, as is the fic itself. Unfortunately, the author has a very slow posting rate for new chapters. It's not quite a Dead Fic, but it's close.
    • Definitely liked this fic myself.

Idiot by Sage SK

  • Synopsis: His partner had always worried about his safety and he always appreciated it. He just never realized what it would be like if their roles were reversed.
  • Comments: Short and sweet. It's a one-shot that gives us a great look at the bond between best friends.

The End of The SWAT Kats by Bill Hiers

  • Recommended by Akane Kitty
  • Synopsis: While the SWAT Kats are out fighting Hard Drive, junkyard cats Burke and Murray make an interesting discovery.
  • Comments: Interesting take on what would happen if the SWAT Kats' true identities were ever discovered. Work in progress and updated infrequently.

My Friend My Enemy by ulyferal

  • Synopsis: What if the Dark SWAT Kats weren't destroyed by the stuck bomb as shown in the cartoon?
  • Comments: Nice short piece about the Dark SWAT Kats surviving and being blown back to their world. Captures an unique essence about the Dark SWAT Kats' relationship.

Shipping Fics

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

SWAT Kats: Endgame by Kanto the Slayer.

  • Recommended by Zero Sennin
  • Synopsis: A sort of third season for the series, reintroducing some old enemies and "shaking up" the status quo in MegaKat City for the SWAT Kats and the Enforcers alike.
  • Comments: Endgame REALLY isn't that much of a shipping fic. Yes, it has pairings (Jake/Callie, Chance/Felina), but that is far and away not the focus of the fic. This fic is all about the action. The romance parts are semi-skippable if desired, this story is sheer over the top awesome action otherwise. Was initially jarring due to RL military tech rather than SK-verse, but take the time to adjust and there's so much awesome that it's truly worth it. It's not a light read though; it's now finished(!) at 70 chapters! And now, on to Megakat Shield! :)

MegaKat Shield by Kanto the Slayer.

  • Recommended by Carrie The Troper
  • Synopsis: By the end of Endgame (see above), things have changed, but some things haven't. The new circumstances close some doors and open others. But with the system as a whole on the verge of change, there are villains ripe and ready to take advantage!
  • Comments: Just kicking off at the moment, but picks right up where Endgame left things off at chapter 70. Once again, there's shipping and relationships, but it's not going to be the focus of things. With the aftermath of Endgame, there's a lot to be focusing on outside of the relationships. With "MegaKat Shield", SWAT Kats expands slightly into SWAT Kats Universe. There's a whole world out there, and the SK-verse is going to be seen like never before! It won't be a light read this time either, though. ;) After all, it's After the End(game)!

Gender Bender by Nyte Kat.

  • Synopsis: An accident turns Chance into a she-kat... permanently. What's a kat to do when his best friend starts finding him attractive?
  • Comments: A well written exploration into an AU where Chance is no longer T-Bone, but T-Bride. The chapters are fairly long, and while there may only be 8 of them, it's still a good read. It shows what could happen, especially between the Swat Kats themselves. The author is looking into possibly doing a sequel, but she's trying to work all the kinks out first.

Jaded Reflections by Etherweil

  • Synopsis: The Swat Kats, who are already aware that everyone has a dark side, undergo an adventure of self discovery and deep reflection as their lives take an unsuspected turn. A dark evil is unleashed in MKC that takes the Swat Kats by surprise, and doubt surfaces.
  • Comments: Great fic that pairs up Jake/Callie and Felina/Chance as well as possibility dealing with the Dark versions of themselves. This fic is not complete and hasn't been updated for a while but the author is trying to finish it.

Drawing the Short Straw by Akane Kitty

  • Recommended by Writer Maven
  • Pairings: Razor/Felina, later T-Bone/Felina
  • Synopsis: Inconsiderate friends place Razor and Lieutenant Felina Feral into interesting situations...
  • Comments: Nice fic about a surprising Razor and Felina relationship with bits of action mixed in. Razor and Felina's snarkiness toward each other is funny. Some language throughout the fic and explicit material in the later chapters.
