Princess Resurrection/Characters

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Characters of the manga and anime / OVA series Princess Resurrection.

Hime and her allies

Hime

Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi (anime), Saori Hayami (OVA)(JP), Shelley Calene-Black (EN)

The titular character of the series. She is the second royal princess, daughter of the king of all monsters. She appears as a young aristocratic woman wearing Gothic clothing. Her real name is Lillian but she dislikes people calling her by it. Although her siblings are busy fighting for the throne, she shows no interest in it. She resurrects Hiro on a whim after he dies, thinking him interesting enough to be her servant.

Hiro Hiyorimi

Voiced by: Fuyuka Ooura (anime), Miyu Irino (OVA)(JP), Blake Shepard (EN)

The protagonist who dies at the beginning of the series (in the manga he was hit by the station wagon Flandre is driving, whereas in the anime he is hit by a falling iron pillar). He finds himself in Hime's service as he is bound to her because her blood revived him. Though young and not very strong, Hiro manages to assist Hime (mostly by being a human shield) through his "half-immortality" that was given to him after his resurrection.

Riza Wildman

Voiced by: Yuko Kaida (anime), Eri Kitamura (OVA)(JP), Luci Christian (EN)

A half-breed tomboy girl who has a werewolf father, called Volg Wildman, and a human mother. Being of mixed blood, Riza can only transform her arms up to her elbow and her physical combat capabilities can't compare to that of a pure breed, though she is many times stronger than a normal human.

Reiri Kamura

Voiced by: Mamiko Noto (anime), Aki Toyosaki (OVA)(JP), Emily Neves (EN)

A female vampire who attends the same school as Hiro. She has long black hair, always dresses in a dark sailor fuku, and has idol status in her school. At first, she greatly detests Riza but their relations change gradually for the better. Other than the blood from Royalty, she also prefers blood from virgins, girls and "cute" guys.

Nakua

Voiced by: Hiromi Konno (OVA)

An "evil" spider deity initially responsible for the disappearance of students at Hiro and Reiri's school, she is eventually stopped by Reiri and Riza. After failing to get back at the pair (and by extension Hime, for being their patron), she settles into a sort-of cooperative relationship with the residents of Hime's mansion after the latter builds a shrine to her in the mansion's backyard. Is pretty much the de-facto guardian deity of Sasanaki at the moment.

Sherwood

Voiced by: Ai Shimizu (JP), Hilary Haag (EN)

Hime's younger sister. She once harbored bad feelings towards Hime, but later reconciled, and has a rather obvious crush on Hiro and will almost do anything to make him her servant. After that she moved in to a mansion on the hill opposite Hime's mansion.

Flandre

Voiced by: Shiho Kawaragi (anime), Yuka Iguchi (OVA)(JP), Bree Welch (EN)

Hime's personal android. She is small, unlike the other androids, but is extremely strong for her size.

Sawawa Hiyorimi

Voiced by: Yuko Minaguchi (anime), Ai Kayano (OVA)(JP), Monica Rial (EN)

Hiro's older sister and Hime's (human) maid. Hiro moves in with her at the beginning of the series, which triggers his meeting with Hime.

Francesca

Voiced by: Rika Morinaga (JP), Stephanie Wittels (EN)

Sherwood's personal gynoid and caretaker. She has the appearance of a young, glasses-wearing woman.

Ryu-Ryu

Voiced by: Akio Kato (JP), Leraldo Anzaldua (EN)

Sherwood's blood warrior. He's a Panda. Yup.

Nozomi "Buchi" Kobuchizawa

Voiced by: Hiroshi Okamoto (OVA)

Hiro's friend from school. Obsessed with the occult. Seems to have a crush on Francesca.

Prince Severin and his entourage

Severin

Voiced By: Kenyuu Horuichi (anime)

One of Hime's siblings, a self-important coward who will use any means to remain the last one standing. It is hinted that he was the one who ordered the attack that decimated Hime's forces prior to the story via unleashing a Zombie Apocalypse on her holdings, and he tries to do so again.

Hime: You've always been a weak-minded coward.

  • Villainous Breakdown: When he sees that his underhanded tricks don't work on Hime, he gets angry. Just as Hime planned, as his rage causes him to drop his guard and get killed.

Franz

Severin's android bodyguard, he looks like a tall man dressed in a tuxedo with a cybernetic left eye.

Mikasa

Voiced By: Sayaka Ohara (anime)

Severin's blood warrior, Mikasa is a woman that Severin killed then revived via his blood. Mikasa is much more deadlier than your usual Blood Warrior, by virtue of the "modifications" done on her by the Fly Man. At Severin's death, she becomes Silvia's Blood Warrior instead.

Fly Man

An anthromorphic fly scientist. He is first introduced trying to "sell" the fruits of his research to Hime (meaning he took her hostage to force her to buy them from him, or die if she refused). He works for Severin at first, but Silvia eventually becomes his financial patroness, and as such he makes things on her request, whenever he isn't pursuing his own independent research that is.

Prince Emile and his entourage

Emile

Voiced by: Yuuya Uchida (anime), Akira Ishida (OVA)

Quiet and brooding, Emile is one of Hime's older brothers. Seemingly plagued with a weak consitution, his powerful Psychic Powers, including telekenesis and limited clairvoyance, more than makes up for this. Like Sherwood he is not openly antagonistic with Hime, but will not aid her either (directly anyway).

Keziah Bold

Voiced by: Hiroki Touchi (anime), Yuuichi Nakamura (OVA)

A werewolf warrior first encountered stranded in the Ghost Ship, Keziah is one of Prince Emile's loyal servants. He was a companion of Riza's father in the old days, and as such, despite being technically Riza's enemy, tends to look out for her whenever they cross paths.

Sledge

Voiced By: Satoshi Hino (OVA)

A winged warrior of an unspecified humanoid race, Sledge is another of Prince Emile's bodyguards, serving opposite to Keziah. Despite being in the same faction, they tend to bicker with each other when left alone.

Flanders

Flanders is the robot bodyguard assigned to serve Emile. Unlike his "siblings" Flandre and Francesca, Flanders is a Humongous Mecha on the scale of kaiju-sized monsters. He is later upgraded to Flanders G.

Ningyo/Madeline

Voiced by: Ai Kayano (OVA)

A mermaid that was trapped on a ghost ship, and was used by the malevolent entity there to lure in other ships to their doom. In return for gaining the ability to walk on land, she had willingly given up her voice, but in the process she was cursed that she would die if she ever spoke. She is eventually rescued from the ghost ship by Hime's friends and Keziah, but not before she speaks up to warn the latter. This causes her death, but she is quickly revived via Emile's blood, becoming one of his Blood Warriors.

  • Adaptation Dye Job: Despite her hair being a dark color in the manga, it becomes pink in the first anime. The OVA rectifies this somewhat, turning her hair back into a very dark blue.
  • Color Failure: Much like Hiro, she suffers this at times.
  • Hellish Pupils: Again, much like Hiro.
  • Last of Their Kind: Mermaids are mentioned by Riza as being "almost extinct".
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: She is referred to through the manga and the OVA simply as "ningyo", which literaly means mermaid. It is only later in the manga that we learn that her real name is Madeline.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Similar the Little Mermaid variety: as mentioned, she gave up her voice as a payment to a sorcerer to be able to walk. The moment she speaks a word however, she dies.
  • Token Loli: Of Emile's entourage.

Princess Silvia and her entourage

Silvia

Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue (OVA)

The eldest princess, Silvia is beautiful, elegant, and charismatic. She is also incredibly cunning and willing to do anything to come out on top of the current succession war, without directly showing her hand of course. With this in mind, she is likely the most dangerous of Hime's siblings prior to the emergence of Prince Fuhito, that is.

Francette

Voiced By: Yuka Iguchi (OVA)

Silvia's gynoid bodyguard. One of her distinct features is the large pneumatic drill standing in as a replacement for her lost left hand. She is not hesitant in using it against Silvia's enemies.

Prince Gilliam and his entourage

Gilliam

Voiced by: Joji Nakata (OVA)

Another of Hime's older brothers, Gilliam appears as an intense-looking man in a white suit, and is always seen with his sword close at hand. Unlike his brother Emile, Gilliam is much more brash, and isn't shy to prove how good at using his sword he really is.

  • Badass: His fight with Hime, Reiri and Hiro in the 2nd OVA.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Implied, mostly through his rather unusual blood warriors.
  • Collector of the Strange: His blood warriors include:
  • Cool Sword: His Weapon of Choice is his sword blood warrior.
  • Flash Step: He is very fast.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: On the giving and recieveing end. He blasts Hime's mansion with a particle cannon for fighting him earlier, using the very weapon she used then on him. He then is about to blast Sherwood's mansion, proclaiming "karma's a bitch", only to be blasted, but not killed, by Hime with the same cannon.
    • By chapter 78 and 77, he gets desperate and willingly exposes himself to an alien spore cloud in hopes of fighting and defeating Fuhito. This winds up backfiring as prolonged exposure means he can't survive in fresh air. The spore uses him to explain to the others that they meant no harm and were just trying to find a new home before heading out into space. Clearing away the mist and killing Gilliam in the process. He is graceful about it though and, like Emil, wishes for Hime to be the next ruler as she gave him a royal death.
  • Large Ham
  • The McCoy: So far, the most openly emotional of the princes and princesses.
  • Noble Demon: He uses some underhanded tricks but he does care for Fratellus and even respected that it was willing to sacrifice itself to help him.
  • Serious Business: The Succession Crisis. He's right, though.
  • Warrior Prince: He's pretty skilled with that Cool Sword.

Fratellus

Voiced by: Yuka Iguchi (OVA)

Gilliam's android, Fratellus appears as a tall and absurdly-muscular man wearing strange three-lensed goggles.

Prince Duken and his entourage

Prince Duken/Franken

The oldest royal sibling alive, Duken was supposedly the winner of the previous generation's succession war by default, as his only other remaining rival had gone into hiding. However instead of being elevated to maturity, he was instead passed over by the other Elder royalty, which indirectly leads to the current succession war. In reality Duken had been killed decades before by his brother Prince Fuhito, and the "Duken" seen by the other siblings is simply another android.

Frank

Prince Duken's robotic canine companion, who accompanies the eldest royal wherever he goes.

Other Characters

Dr. Franken

The creator of the humanoid bodyguards that serve the royal siblings, Dr. Franken considers himself a neutral observer to the succession war. As such his mansion is considered a demilitarized zone where the royal siblings can talk with each other without fear of attack or betrayal.

Prince Fuhito

Another royal prince, Fuhito's unexpected entry into the succession war has shifted the power balance between all his other siblings. Although looking for all the world like a young boy, Fuhito is an extremely powerful esper... and he isn't hesitant in using that power. Fuhito was actually a participant of the previous generation's succession war, though he had to go into hiding due to the toll the battles took on his body. It was he who killed Duken, and had him turned into a robotic body-double, which in turn indirectly causes the current generation's succession war.
