Trivia about Plants vs. Zombies includes:
- Fan Nickname: Spanish-speaking[1] players use to give nicknames to plants and zombies because a lot of players had the game in English but didn't know the language, so they nicknamed characters from what they seemed. The main victims of this were the Wall-nut (a nut) and Tall-nut (a big nut), who Spanish speakers called "papa" (potato) and "papota" (big potato), respectively. There are Spanish translations of the game and the most of Spanish-speakers know the plants' and zombies' names, but these and other nicknames for characters are still used in memes and humor videos in YouTube.
- Ascended Fanon and Ascended Meme: Downplayed with Wall-nut. At May fifth, 2024 (the fifteenth anniversary of the game release), George Fan, the game creator, posted some conceptual arts of the plants of the game in Twitter [[1]], including the "Wall-nut's unused alter-ego", the "Diverting Potato" [[2]]. A lot of the answers on that tweet were from Spanish-speakers surprised because their nickname for Wall-nut was canon sometime during the early game development. This amused George Fan [[3]]. Downplayed because "La papa" technically would be canon only during the early development of the game, but it was not revealed until that day.
- No Export for You: Prior December 14, 2011, if you own an Android device and live outside of the US, you can't have PvZ Android, since the game was exclusively available to the Amazon App Store, which only sells within the US and Canada. The trope was finally averted and made available over the regular Android Market worldwide on December 14, 2011.
- Screwed by the Lawyers: One of the unused titles for the game was "Lawn of the Dead", a pun based on Dawn of the Dead, but copyright didn't allowed it.
