Peter Pan (Disney film)/Tear Jerker

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • While George Darling's blow up is a big tearjerker. There are several moments in it that cause major water works.
    • For starters the beginning of George's blow up is the result of his harsh, but at the same time reasonable complaints, such as his shirt being used as a treasure map and his constant tripping. However in his temper he states that Wendy should have a room of her own now that she's growing up. Much to the heartbreak of Michael and John. Especially since earlier he dismissed their child like stories of Peter Pan as absolute poppycock.
    • When George accidentally trips over Nana, they immediately go to the hurt dog first, while dog lovers relate to the scene it's equally heart aching to George that no one comes to his aid.
    • The above becomes the last straw for George and he demands Nana leaves, much to the heartbreak of Michael who tries to pull her back when George drags her out. Michael can only solemnly say "Goodbye Nana." while Nana solemnly waves bye bye back to him.
    • When George and Nana are alone outside, George still in his temper mode is looking for the tie rope. Nana helpfully gives it to him, giving him a sad look. George feeling bad, explains to Nana it isn't anything personal, he was only trying to help them all learn to grow up. It doesn't change her mood, but it does show George's side of the deal.
    • Lastly, when Mary is tucking in the trio, each one expresses their own sadness of the matter while she tries to be reassuring. She tries to tell them that although George flew off the handle, he means well and he loves them very much. It shows how hard it is, being both parents and children.
