  • Acceptable Lifestyle Targets: Annoying, shallow and superficial tech-savvy hipsters.
  • Better on DVD: There are various subtle plot threads
  • Misaimed Fandom: both in-text and metatextual; Dan's article satirising the hipsters he's surrounded by sees them venerate him as their icon in the show. On a meta-level, the show is clearly meant to savagely spoof a certain kind of irritating hipster, but that particular audience ended up becoming the show's biggest fans.
  • What an Idiot!: Toby could be described as a regular idiot (i.e. a little dimwitted but harmless enough) while most of the RAPE crew are genuinely completely bereft of intelligence and appear to be in a state of arrested development.
  • The Woobie: Poor, high-strung Pingu.
  • You Suck: Morris and Brooker were almost certainly taking a few swipes at the obnoxious hipsters who deify them.
