• Americans Hate Tingle: The hate towards Mineta and his sexual jokes is much more pronounced outside Japan.
• Awesome Music: Most of the soundtrack is amazing, but some standouts:
  • The opening
  • You Can Be A Hero
  • The theme of All Might, I Am Here!!
  • Plus Ultra
• Base Breaker:
  • Some find Izuku a breath of fresh air from the usual Idiot Hero protagonist seen in most Shonen action series, others either dislike his more passive personality or find that for a character that's willing to risk it all, the series plays it safe. Most are left underwhelmed by the fact he never gets his viewpoint challenged, unlike with Bakugou, or any long-lasting consequences.
  • Ochako, either she's an adorable girl who works hard for her family or an annoying useless bitch that Izuku shouldn't be forced with. A third group thinks she's fine but don't think she should be the main heroine.
  • Himiko, sympathetic sexy villainess or annoying yandere who needs to be taken down a peg?
  • Jirou, an underrated cute tsundere punk girl or a rude cynical girl who is rude to Denki for no good reason?
• Die for Our Ship: If they're not paired with anyone else in the fic, Ochako, Momo, and Bakugou will get this for Tododeku.
• Draco in Leather Pants:
  • Dabi; despite all the evil he's done, once you know his backstory, it's hard not to side with him.
  • Toga; Evil Is Sexy, Evil Is Cool and fans can't get enough of her.
• Evil Is Sexy: Himiko Toga is a murderous, unstable schoolgirl, but her Cloudcuckoolander behaviour, cheery way of talking, and shapely body gives her lot of fanboys.
• Fan-Preferred Couple: IzuOcha and TodoMomo's popularity pales in comparison to TodoDeku.
  • KiriBaku for Kirishima pairs.
  • You'll see more people shipping ShinKami and MoJirou than Jirou/Denki.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Momo is much more popular in the USA than in Japan. In the Japanese polls, she can barely make top 15, while in the USA she climbed from 12th in 2015 to 5th in 2019.
• Moe:
  • Several students in Class 1-A come across as this for various reasons. The prime examples are Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Asui, Yaoyorozu, Ashido and Koda, all of which are considered cute by a majority of fans.
  • Eri has a large number of fans considering her to be this as well, especially since she cheered up after the School Festival.
• Never Live It Down: Bakugou's detractors will cite the infamous scene where he tells Izuku to jump off the building in the first chapter, something that Horikoshi admits he went too overboard with Bakugou's initial personality . Afterwards, Bakugou's Characterization Marches On toned down his more ruthless behavior and made him more of a loner before his Character Development hit, yet they still hate Bakugou for this very reason.
• Ship Mates: Tododeku typically get along with KiriBaku fans. They also get along with Ochacko/Tsuyu shippers.
  • ShinKami, EraserMic and MoJirou.
• Ship-to-Ship Combat: TodoDeku vs. BakuDeku vs. IzuOcha.
  • KiriBaku vs. Bakugou/Camie.
• The Scrappy: The majority of the fanbase loathe Mineta for being a pervert that comes across as creepy rather than endearing in any way, with an insufferable personality to boot. What doesn't help matters is that he gets the most screentime out of the Class 1-A side characters, yet he does nothing significant to the plot beyond just being the punchline of an obnoxious pervert.
