Little Mosque on the Prairie/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Acceptable Religious Targets: Takes a nuanced view of religion, with the Muslim and Christian characters ranging from the quietly devout to the cynical. The lead character is a successful lawyer who decided to give up the career and become an imam, for instance, who has often has to deal with the obnoxiously intolerant Babar who is essentially an Islamic Archie Bunker. The imam also goes to see movies with the Anglican reverend. "I don't want to miss one minute of Halle Berry."
  • Ass Pull: Sarah and Yassir's divorce.
  • Ho Yay: Thorne and Baber, who are very close in season six, and use pet names.
  • Values Dissonance: The show received surprisingly little criticism for its situation, but it still invokes this trope in-universe, for example it is acknowledged with the contentious issue of the "great barrier grief" in the second episode. Yet what is considered a reasonable and light-hearted method of compromise within the show is likely to send non-Muslim viewers fuming all the way through about disrespect of women.
