- Cut Song: The jukebox program that comes with the PC version of the game reveals a number of songs that never made it into the final version of the game.
- In the Wii Ware version, "Good Morning Mom" gets used.
- Fan Nickname:
- "Catball" for the cat-like enemy that rides on its ball, and the notorious "Surprise Fish", which are fish that jump out of waterfalls unexpectedly.
- "Jackrabbit" for the Nuckelavee mid-boss in the Spring in the Sky.
- Name's the Same: The Boss in the Hell Temple is not to be confused with The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
- Promoted Fanboy:
- The Wii Ware version's credits, note the familiar names in the Special Thanks? They have Madamluna and Deceased Crab's names in it.
- Jasmine "Momogirl" Cote herself has confirmed that she is now one of the translators for the US release. She is also on the Special Thanks list.
- Vaporware: The overseas release of the WiiWare remake was cancelled, mainly due to snags with the differing standards between regional ratings boards and having to debug the game a second time, and the perceived decline of Wii Ware as a service.
- What Could Have Been: An updated version for the original La-Mulana designed to work better on modern operating systems was planned if the sequel's Kickstarter reached a specific stretch goal during its campaign; however, the goal to development this updated re-release of the first game was not reached before the campaign's end.
