Good Thing You Can Heal/Playing With

Basic Trope: To demonstrate their powers, characters imbued with Healing Factor tend to get injured the most.

  • Straight: Franco Dalvin, AKA "Lizardax", is a half-human superhero with various healing powers, including powerful regeneration. To demonstrate those, he constantly suffers various injuries.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: A group of superheroes all have a Healing Factor except for the Badass Normal. Said hero is the only one who ever seems to get injured, the others quite sensibly keeping themselves out of harms way.
  • Subverted:
    • After showing his resistance to stab and bullet wounds, Lizardax is Killed Off for Real by a massive explosion.
    • Lizardax can heal from anything, but it still hurts. So, he actively avoids getting injured.
  • Double Subverted:
    • But later, it turns out he was Not Quite Dead.
    • Lizardax grabs some painkillers, and uses his powers like no tomorrow.
  • Parodied: The guy with the Healing Factor is the only one who ever gets injured. Constantly. And in incredibly messy ways.
  • Deconstructed: Even though Lizardax can regenerate, all the wounds he constantly receives still hurt. Eventually he gets fed up with his team always expecting him to be the meat shield, and quits.
  • Reconstructed: While Lizardax despises the pain that comes along with his power, he finally comes to terms with it, and accepts it as a price he has to pay in order to put his abilities at service of those that need them most. After all, if someone has to bite the bullet, it's better if it is the guy capable of surviving it.
  • Zig Zagged: Lizardax gets sick of having to go through the pain of injury and regeneration all the time, and in a fit of rage purposely exposes himself to a Power Nullifier. As soon as he's depowered, he's forced to rescue his team from a deadly situation and in the process of doing so, gets injured just as often as when he could heal, nearly killing him. His team are awed at his bravery and resolve to have more respect for him, while he realises that even without powers he still suffers from Chronic Hero Syndrome. He gets his powers back... and instantly gets hit by a truck, but shrugs off the damage in a matter of minutes.
  • Averted: None of the superheroes have regenerative healing, all deaths are permanent, and anyone who gets severely injured has to stay in a hospital for six months and take physical therapy.
  • Enforced: In the original TV series, Lizardax regenerative ability was a relatively low-key ability; but because of the Movie's bigger budget, the director wants to demonstrate the audience how awesome his power really is by allowing him to regenerate from some shocking injuries.
  • Lampshaded: "You'd think he would get bored of losing his arms by now."
  • Invoked: Lizardax has always been The Klutz, so he made himself a healing potion to keep himself out of hospital.
  • Defied: While Lizardax regenerative powers are incredibly effective, they don't come along with a null / reduced pain threshold, so he prefers to avoid messy injuries as much as possible, because they still hurt like hell.
  • Discussed: "From paper-cuts to burns to bullet-holes to missing limbs, why are you so accident-prone?" "In most cases, I just forget to be careful."
  • Conversed: "Lizardax is running with scissors! Get ready to take a shot!"
  • Played For Laughs: Lizardax doesn't feel pain, and his deaths are so Bloody Hilarious, he'll even kill himself for a good laugh.
  • Played For Drama: Lizardax is a small, weak team doctor constantly picked on by enemies - and he didn't even ask for those healing powers in the first place.
