Dialogue/WMG

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

When Realistic Diction Is Unrealistic, the Dialogue is actually in a different language, but represented as being in the audience's language by Translation Convention.

This is a straightforward application of logic to Realistic Diction Is Unrealistic. When the story portrays dialogue in a language, such as English, unrealistically, then the dialogue really must be in another language. This language would have to support Dialogue working differently than how the language that the characters are shown as using does in real life. Everything in the real language would likely have to be fast as in Ithkuil, international and inter-regional as in Lincos and International Sign, and timeless as in a written language.
