Eveyln is a dorky girl who wakes up with a bugish body in an unfamiliar world. She quickly adopts a large creature that is like a giant pill bug, and names him Mr. Mooshi. From there she meets alien people. The QM does a pretty good job of keeping things safe for work not just in the quest, but in chat as well (in fact, the quest is rated "teen"). There might be lewd images at the bottom of the web pages depending on what other quests are live, but generally lewd cover images are supposed to marked as lewd and as such are censored unless you put your cursor over them (and this rule tends to be followed). Conquering the Horizon can be found here.

Tropes used in Conquering the Horizon include:
  • Adorkable: Being a dork isn't the only reason Evelyn is likable, but it is part of her charm.
  • Aliens Speaking English: Averted on the world that Evelyn went too. Tara picked up english quick.
  • Cannibalism Superpower: If Evelyn eats an organism she can replicate it, or just it's adaptations. If she eats a person she is able to make a replica of that persons mind.
  • The Aloner: Evelyn when she first woke up on the alien planet.
  • Gold Digger: 'friendship' version (presumably in jest)

Alex: You definitely should [let Sasha buy clothes for you]. Sasha is fucking loaded. Just, so much money. Take it from her. Use it to gain strength.
Sasha: Now, Alex, if you keep saying things like that I’ll be forced to assume you only associate with me for my wealth.
Alex: I do though. Also, Sam and Thomas only hang out with you for your boobs.

  • Hive Mind: Evelyn relatively early on, creates bodies that are mentally linked, but still somewhat independent. Also there is Tara.
  • I'm A Humanitarian: Evelyn killed and ate what she didn't know was a person. And was absolutely horrified about what she did when she found out. Later on Evelyn tried to save some people, her effort failed, and then she deliberately ate one of the corpses to fuel her Cannibalism Superpower.
  • It Can Think: Played for horror in an unusual way. Imagine killing a presumably stupid creature to fuel a Cannibalism Superpower and acquire food and then realizing your prey had personhood.
  • Shout Out:
Tropes that used to be in Conquering the Horizon
  • Bland-Name Product: Originally made some use of this with restaurants, but in the name of consistency of using references to real life companies and such, the QM went back and changed it on June 12th 2020. So it's possible there isn't any evidence of it aside from this entry and the quest's chat log.
  • Sexy Packaging: The cover image used to be a risque monster girl. After someone told the QM that there were people that would read the quest even without getting tricked into looking at it, she changed the image.
Aw dang I was hoping I could use that pic to draw the horny crowd in and then TRICK THEM with good writing instead
