  • Canon Sue: Jilly, to a certain extent. By the time Widdershins rolls around, it's damn near meta.
  • Complete Monster: The Big Bads of de Lint's earlier high fantasy novels tend to play this trope straight. He has gradually abandoned it in favor of more nuanced antagonists. A notable (and justified) exception from the later work Widdershins is Del - given that he is the personification of Jilly's trauma resulting from abuse she suffered as a child.
