Canned Orders Over Loudspeaker/Playing With
Basic Trope: Propaganda is spread using loudspeakers.
- Straight: The government of Troperia periodically broadcasts messages about how great they are.
- Exaggerated: You can even hear these messages in a distant galaxy millions of light years away.
- Downplayed: The announcements can only be heard in Troperian government buildings as well as several square feet nearby.
- Justified: The Troperian government wants to make sure people are not resisting them.
- Inverted: The Troperian government somehow gets their message across by staying silent at all times.
- Subverted: The messages are just from an ordinary citizen…
- Double Subverted: …who happens to actually be a Troperian government official.
- Parodied: The announcements are broadcast using literal tin cans and string.
- Zig Zagged: Announcements come from either the Troperian government or other sources.
- Averted: The government does not issue propaganda via loudspeaker.
- Enforced: The creators want to show how oppressive the government of Troperia is.
- Lampshaded: “Those speakers always say the same thing about Troperia!”
- Invoked: A new dictator comes in and records some propaganda to play via loudspeakers set up throughout Troperia.
- Exploited: A business owner hacks into the system to broadcast advertisements about their business’ products.
- Defied: People begin trying to stop officials from putting up speakers.
- Discussed: “The Troperian government really wants to get the message out there!”
- Conversed: “Why do dystopias in shows always seem to have canned announcements like this?”
- Deconstructed: Announcements can be made while people are asleep, disrupting the workforce the Troperian government strives for.
- Reconstructed: People get used to the announcements, even if they are still in their dreams.
- Played For Laughs: The announcements are usually jokes such as puns.
- Played For Drama: This is used to control the populace.
