Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Basic Trope: The Ingenue gets an Unnecessary Makeover and acts slutty to snag her Love Interest.

  • Straight: To get Bob's attention, Alice exchanges her modest attire for something that shows more skin and acts more outgoing.
  • Exaggerated: Former Shrinking Violet Alice shows up on Bob's doorstep in latex and fishnets high-heel boots and three pieces of masking tape.
  • Justified: For one reason or another, Alice has become desexualised in Bob's head and left as just another one of his friends. The makeover, although unnecessary from anybody else's point of view, makes Bob snap out of it and realise Alice is still a woman.
  • Inverted: Eva, a former Vamp, gives up her old ways and starts acting sweet and innocent because that's what Bob likes. Alternatively Bob puts on a miniskirt and heels because that's what Alice likes.
  • Subverted: Bob liked Alice just the way she was...
  • Double Subverted: ...But doesn't mind the changes one bit.
  • Parodied: To get Bob's attention, Alice shows up to Bob's doorstep dressed in a clown suit, and Bob comments on how much more fun, outgoing, and incredibly hot she is now.
  • Deconstructed: Alice, convinced that Bob would never notice somebody like her, struggles to become what she thinks guys like. It's an extremely difficult process, and while she manages to pull off the physical image, her self-respect and confidence take a severe nosedive.
  • Reconstructed: She goes through the extremely difficult process to change into who she thinks Bob will like, and she finds out that she likes herself that way.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice changes her image and snags Bob, but struggles with her self-confidence. Bob figures this out, and they have a heart-to-heart where he admits that he likes the new her, but wants to know the real her. Alice reverts to normal, and they stay together happily... but Bob starts to miss the showier Alice, even though he knows how miserable she was.
  • Averted: The Ingenue dresses modestly and gets her man.
  • Enforced: You are writing an homage to Grease
  • Lampshaded: "Now that you've changed your personality and are wearing black leather, Bob is sure to notice you!"
  • Invoked: "I know how you can get Bob! Dress like a skank! It works all the time in the movies!"
  • Defied: "Don't you dare try changing yourself just to please some guy, Alice! You can do better than him!"
  • Discussed: "If this were a 70s musical based on the fifties, all you'd have to do to get Bob to notice you is get a personality revamp and dress like a slut."
  • Conversed: "Isn't it weird, in the movies, a girl has to act slutty to get a guy's attention?"
