  • Development Hell: The sequel. Paramount had expressed interest then lost it then renewed interest...then stepped off again...and finally greenlit the project come 2012, over seven years after the first movie.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!: In the epic battle between the newsteams, Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Tim Robbins, and Ben Stiller appear as the rival lead anchors.
    • Danny Trejo plays a bartender.
    • Jack Black plays the biker.
    • Fred Armisen (drummer for the band Trenchmouth and current [as of 2011] cast member on Saturday Night Live) plays Tino, the restaurant owner
    • The only woman who's turned on by Sex Panther is Missi Pyle.
    • A police officer in a deleted scene is The Janitor.
    • Amy Poehler in one of the Wake Up scenes.
  • What Could Have Been: During the production, a lot of alternate takes were produced and a lot of plotlines were cut, including a major plotline about an inept terrorist organisation known as "The Alarm Clock". So many, in fact, that instead of being included in a Director's Cut version, they were edited together to produce a Direct to DVD sequel Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie.
