Amnesia: The Dark Descent/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Acting for Two: In Justine, Emily Corkery voices Justine and provides the grunts for the girl, when the game doesn't reuse old Daniel sound effects.
  • DVD Commentary: Developer Commentaries are able to be toggled, and appear in-game in the form of the Frictional logo (a 6-sided gear) surrounding a microphone. Since most players will want to go the first round without the commentary, this gives a bit of a boost to its replayability. The commentaries are a Preorder Bonus.
  • Fan Nickname: The monsters are never directly named in-game (but are so in the game files) so a variety of nicknames sprung up. Grunts, the jawless ones, have gone by Mr. Face (or Mr. Flappyjaw) while Brutes, the metal-infested faceless ones have gone by Mr. Tall. Both "Mr. Face" and "Mr. Tall" were names given to them by TheRPGMinx. They have also been called "Mister Struts" and "Anti-Struts" respectively, by Spike and Barley.
    • Thanks to PewDiePie, the Grunts are also occasionally called "bros".
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: Baron Alexander is Kessler.
  • No Budget: Would you believe that Frictional Games, the developers of Amnesia, had to work for no pay for a month or two? It's impressive that it turned out as well as it did, given their methods of motion-capping the monsters.
  • Talking to Himself: There are only two, somewhat minor examples. The first is Wilhelm and his companions in the Wine Cellar - all are voiced by Dan Zullo. The second is the dialogue between the girl Daniel murdered and her mother in the prison - both characters are voiced by Lani Minella.
  • What Could Have Been: Frictional originally planned Amnesia to be a casual Torture Porn game, but changed it after Penumbra gained more popularity.
  • The Wiki Rule: Right here and the Gamepedia version.
