Youth Without Youth
Youth Without Youth is a 2007 drama film (with some sci-fi elements) directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It was the first film that Coppola had directed in ten years since 1997's The Rainmaker.
Dominic Matei (Tim Roth) is an elderly Romanian language professor whose Magnum Opus is an unfinished work on the origins of human language. Dominic is depressed, knowing that he'll never complete his work before dying, so he goes to Bucharest to commit suicide. While there, however, he is struck by a bolt of lightning, and when he wakes up in hospital, he finds his youth miraculously restored. Furthermore, an alter-ego of himself appears in mirrors and talks to him, and he gains the ability, among other things, to conjure roses. These peculiarities soon draw the attention of the Nazis, and Dominic is forced to flee to Switzerland. After World War II ends, Dominic meets a woman named Veronica, and that's where things get really, really Mind Screwy.
