Year Outside, Hour Inside/Playing With
Basic Trope: Time passes much more quickly in the "real world" than the fantasy world.
- Straight: Bob and Alice discover a tunnel to Troperia. They stay there for an hour, but when they get out, a year has passed.
- Exaggerated: Bob and Alice are in Troperia for a few minutes, and when they get out, they find centuries have passed.
- Downplayed: Bob and Alice are in Troperia for six months, and when they get out, they find a year as passed.
- Justified: Time passes differently in the two realms.
- Inverted: Year Inside, Hour Outside
- Subverted: It turns out time did only pass for an hour in the real world, Alice and Bob just got dumped into a different portion of the real world so it would look differently.
- Double Subverted: Or so it would seem. But that's a lie told to time travelers so their brains don't explode.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig Zagged: Narnia Time
- Averted: The time passes the same in the real world.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Alice and Bob are high schoolers who are constantly being tormented by the Alpha Bitch, so they hide out in Troperia for a bit to escape her cruelty.
- Defied: ???
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Deconstructed: Alice and Bob don't really know what they're getting into - when they return to the real world, they're completely unprepared for a world that has quite literally left them behind.
- Played For Laughs: Alice and Bob handle the knowledge that centuries have passed with casual disinterest, until Alice learns that her favorite ice-cream shop no longer exists - then she freaks out.
Wait, WHAT? 10,000 years have passed? But I was only at Year Outside, Hour Inside for a minute!
