Warrior Cats/Recap/The Elders' Concern

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

The Elders' Concern is a short story that debuted on the Warriors iOS app. It is notable for having major Series Continuity Errors, as it forgets that Firepaw was only an apprentice when Lionheart died, that Tigerclaw became deputy after Lionheart, and that Fireheart was named deputy after Tigerclaw was exiled for trying to kill Bluestar.

The night that Fireheart is made deputy, Halftail is so bothered by Bluestar's choice that he decides to speak to the other elders about it. They discuss how he's not a good choice, since he's a kittypet, has only been there for half a moon, and how Bluestar should have named him before moonhigh, since Lionheart died yesterday. Smallear and Dappletail are anxious because the warrior code's been broken, but that's not why Halftail is concerned.

He tries to explain that it doesn't have to be a problem for ThunderClan, yet they still need to prepare themselves just in case, but his other denmates continue to discuss how they don't see why Fireheart should be deputy. Sandstorm's a better hunter, and Tigerclaw's what they consider to be a real warrior. Dappletail suggests that perhaps Bluestar waited until after moonhigh because StarClan wouldn't approve of him anyway, and the other elders, even Halftail, begin to worry that this means that Bluestar has turned her back on StarClan.

Halftail says they should at least treat Fireheart like the rightful deputy, because then StarClan may accept him and forgive Bluestar, but the others refuse. Halftail realizes that what he had intended to be a rallying point for the elders instead had made them despair. He has to wonder: is ThunderClan doomed?
