• Fan-Preferred Couple: Suprisingly, even with all those ship tease between Ako and Shou, the most popular ship of the show is Ako/the Garçon. It must has something to do with the ED and the implication that they really have met before.
• High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Even horror anime meant for kids has this trope, and Thriller Restaurant is no exception.
  • For example, in the dessert course of Episode 2, a girl transforms a cheater into a flounder. She is rewarded for her pettiness by being turned into a flounder herself and ultimately being gutted by her own father. (shivers)
  • Episode 14 features Anko's wart taking over her body, mind and face. And that's before you get to the dessert course... REPLAY! REPLAY!
  • The episode concerning the long tunnel in Episode 16...
  • One look at Episode 16's dessert course and you will never want to go into abandoned classrooms ever again.
• Nightmare Fuel: In spades. Seriously, if you don't want your child to have nightmares for weeks on end, then this series is NOT for your family.
  • One notable example was in Episode 3. It's hard not to freak out by the scenes with the demon-possessed princess.
  • The appetizer course for Episode 6. Those bobbling heads are enough to wet your pants. In the main course, THE EYES.
  • The ending credits for episode 13 with a Freeze-Frame Bonus surprise and a mini-story to go with it.
  • The reveal in Episode 17's main course that Shou is a demon. However, the demon's true form might also trigger laughs. Your Mileage May Vary.
    • Don't get confused (like I did when I read the spoiler). Shou himself is not a demon. Its a story he's telling and Shou and Anko are "playing" the roles in it!
  • The demon that possesses Mari in Episode 18. Enough said.

• Hypocritical Humor: If you're not busy being TERRIFIED, in Episode 16's main course, the college students' promise to never leave their friend followed swiftly by their fleeing from the car, leaving him to die with the ghostly hands is an example sure to get a chuckle out of you.
• Nightmare Retardant: Episode 8's main course built up it's story very well and it seems that we will get a scary climax. Instead, the boy does NOT turn around and when he finally sees the demon, it is a chicken with hoofs. Yeah...
• Paranoia Fuel: The dessert course for Episode 2. Namely, the flounder you ate for dinner could've been a person as well.
• Tear Jerker: The appetizer course for Episode 3, "Goodbye." All Michio's ghost wanted was to be number one in Go.
  • Episode 12's main course "Let's Go Together" was sad because of the lonely boy ghost and Anko almost dying
  • Episode 15's main course was also depressing. At least the two dance partners and lovers were reunited in the afterlife.
  • Episode 17's dessert course shows a woman getting a lucky palm and living her life to the fullest before she dies six months later. Turns out the palm reader already knew that she was going to die in six months, so he decided to not tell her that so she could happily live her last days. Heartwarming and depressing at the same time.
  • Episode 18's main course "Reincarnation." It's hard not to cry when Bunta reunites with his past life's parents and catches up with them in his old home.
    • Hell, the dessert course is quite tearjerking itself. The mother dies early but is always there to protect and care for her son, even after his father ends up marrying another wife.
