George is a twelve year old boy whose small act of breaking the head of a stone dragon causes the statues of London to begin to awaken once more.

- I Choose to Stay: In the end of Stoneheart, George chooses to not return the dragon head and instead stay in the un-London where living statues can be seen so that Edie won't be alone.

A stubborn girl who is George's age and also sees the statues, Edie is a glint -- a being that often brings bad luck and can witness the past.

- Broken Bird / Dark and Troubled Past: It is implied that a man with a knife -- possibly her father -- had chased her out through the beach trying to harm her, and she -- again possibly -- ended up killing the man in order to escape.

- The Chew Toy: Treated like she's a nuisance because she's a glint, and they are considered to often bring bad luck.

- Exact Eavesdropping: She definitely gets good at this, often following George and the Gunner around and appearing behind them.
- Heroic BSOD: Three times -- seeing a girl getting drowned while glinting in the Thames, when she gets attacked by the Grid Man, and when she gets captured by the Minotaur. All events leave her shaken, silent, and visibly pale.

- Monochromatic Eyes: According to George, Edie's eyes are "as deep brown can get before it becomes black." This is unsettling for him because it's difficult to distinguish where her irises are. It even makes him wonder if Edie's irises are filled with hate.
- Memento MacGuffin / Mineral MacGuffin: Her sea-glass. It is first provided as a warning for when danger is nearby, but is later revealed to be Edie's own heart stone as a glint and is essential to who she is.

The Gunner is a statue of a bronze soldier and a spit. He takes George under his wing and attempts to help him stop the taints that are trying to murder him.
- Always Save the Girl: The Gunner risks breaking his oath to the Walker in order to rescue Edie from the Minotaur by saving one last bullet in spite of promising to fight the Minotaur weaponless.

- Cheshire Cat Grin: Quite a bit when George and the Gunner first meet Edie and is confronted by her, which got on Edie's nerves.
- Dynamic Entry: Rescuing George from the stone pterodactyl and salamanders.
