The Qur'an/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Broken Base: Easily the second most controversial religious work in the history of the literature, though most of it involves internal debates between Muslims, that amount to billions of people anyway since non-believers are nowhere near interested in it. Jews and Christians obviously dissent with it heavily since while Islam has it's own take on where they overlap, they also claim their take is the correct one while the other two got it wrong.
  • Fair for Its Day: Most Double Standards, e.g about women and men, were rather progressive in their time.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The book is heavily associated with imperialistic attempts at conversion, first by Arabs and then by ottomans. Not much different from the Bible, sure, but most people know through pop-culture the content of that book, so much it names multiple tropes on this very site. The Qur'an is nowhere as nearly as quoted.
