The Pagemaster/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Adaptation Displacement: It was based on a book, incredibly enough.
  • Cult Classic
  • Genius Bonus: In the Fantasy section, a large book falls on top of Richard, and he has to shrug it off. The book? Atlas Shrugged.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • My name is... Mr HYYYYYYDE !!!
    • I grin at thee, THOU GRINNING WHAAALE !!!
  • Nightmare Fuel: The whole section of Horror is able to give you the willies, but the transformation of Dr. Jekyll (and his Mr. Hyde form) traumatized many, many children who saw this film.
    • The scene where the ceiling paint is dripping down. Just looking at the giant wizard's face MELTING traumatized many kids.
    • The Moby Dick sequence also was creepy: Dark red sky, almost demonic-looking sailors and Captain Ahab maniacally yelling on the front of the rowboat.
      • Richard & Co. looking over the side of the boat, and seeing the whale rising up at them.
    • The demonic paint dragon created from the molten ceiling.
      • The real one is just as scary
  • Ugly Cute: Horror.
