- Damian too. It comes as no surprise then that Damian and Cameron ended up becoming close friends and are now roommates sharing an apartment in Los Angeles together.
- Attractive Bent Gender: Alex in drag.
- Elimination Houdini: Many people feel this way about Alex, who has been in the bottom three more than any other character (four weeks in a row and counting), and complain that his Camp Gay diva personality and vocal range appeal to Ryan the most.
- Fan Dumb: It may be because of the show's target demographic or the fact that it is a reality show in which the contenders are made to look a certain way, but fan dislike for some contenders has garnered numerous, and at times quite vicious, online attacks against them prompting mentor Robert Ulrich to speak up against it.
- Lindsay and Alex have certainly received the short end of the stick; Cameron, Matheus, and Marissa fans continually blame Alex for their favourite's departure despite the decision being Ryan Murphy's, and Lindsay gets hate from Cameron fans for apparently forcefully kissing him despite the fact that it was directed and generally for being presented as an attention grabbing, fake, bitch.
- Honestly, most fans with only one favorite will go out of their way to flame other contenders and praise their own resulting in fan wars.

- Five-Token Band: Most fans see the season 2 cast as this. There are only four who can be considered "average": Blake, Michael, Maxfield, and Nellie. The others all have some kind difference factor: wheelchair, blind, lesbian, trans, black, asian, Muslim, ADHD, crack baby, and plus-size.
- Funny Aneurysm Moment: In “Pairability”, Alex, Hannah, and the judges were poking fun at Amy Winehouse. Less than a week after the episode aired, she was found dead.
- Ho Yay: Damian and Matheus when they did their performance of "These Boots are Made for Walkin'".

- Tastes Like Diabetes: Ellis's first music video performance.
- Tear Jerker: The final performance each week, where the eliminated contestant gets to solo on "Keep Holding On".
- Marissa changing her sign during the video shoot for "Mad World" from "insecure" to "anorexic".
- The entire "Mad World" video in general. The shots of each contestant with their sign are just so visceral.
- Alex breaking down during "vulnerability" week, telling Nikki about his deceased father.

- Viewer Gender Confusion: Many people have thought Alex was a girl when he sings due to his voice.
- Not helped by the fact that he looks amazing in drag.
