  • Fake American: Brian Cox (Ward Abbot) is Scottish.
  • Fake Russian: Russian FSB agent Kirill is portrayed by New Zealand actor Karl Urban.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!: Aside from being Damon's most famous role, Nicky is Julia Stiles, the Professor is Clive Owen, Kirill is Bones & Éomer, Kim is |Ethan Hunt's fiance and Marie is Lola.
    • Walton Goggins also a bit role in the first as one of the members working at Treadstone HQ.
    • And the new protagonist, Aaron Cross, is none other than Jeremy Renner.
  • In Memoriam: The film is dedicated to Robert Ludlum, creator of the Bourne series, and Claire Hammond, a colleague of director Doug Liman.
  • Sleeper Hit: The first film. It had tested horribly and Universal delayed it for a year to do re-shoots. When it opened, it was expected to die a quick death against Scooby Doo and Windtalkers. However, reviews and word-of-mouth turned out to be quite positive and it managed to gross over $100 million at the box office.
  • Star-Making Role: Matt Damon has mentioned that despite getting wildly critical acclaim for previous movies, it wasn't until he proved to have Box Office clout that film offers really started to show up.
  • What Could Have Been: Clive Owen was the sniper assassin towards the end of the first movie. In the lead up to Casino Royale he was one of the people in the running for the role of James Bond, which would have made this movie just a little funnier in hindsight.
