The Aristocrats/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

General:

Tropes specific to the movie:

  • Crosses the Line Twice: Bob Saget's version of the joke. It's EPIC. Heck, seeing Bob Saget saying the word "fuck" is epic. His version can make you forgive him for his tepid run as host of America's Funniest Home Videos.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Many laughs in this movie, but the two most original tellings are:
    • The mime version
    • The playing card version
  • Too Soon: Gilbert Gottfried at the Friar's Club Roast Of Hugh Hefner - after his first joke about being delayed due to "having a connecting flight at the Empire State Building", barely weeks after 9/11, leading to...
    • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Well, if you can't tell 9/11 jokes, tell The Aristocrats.
    • I believe it was Jeffrey Ross in the movie who described it as a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming of all things. He explained that at that time, a lot of comedians still felt guilty about trying to make jokes about anything with the aftereffects of 9/11 looming. After someone in the audience actually yelled "Too Soon" to his 9/11 joke, Gilbert stood for a moment and then suddenly launched into an incredibly vulgar rendition of The Aristocrats and left everyone gasping for breath from laughing so hard. Jeffrey said it was the cathartic moment that the entire comedy community needed to feel like it was ok to move on.
