As the title states, it covers a list of one hundred of the greatest [[Looney Tunes]] and [[Merrie Melodies]] cartoons, hand picked by fans of the series. Jerry quipped on one forum that he felt the book should have been called ''The 100 Looney Tunes You Must See'', implying that there are far more great shorts that didn't make it.

The list features a wide output from seven of the original directors: 37 [[Chuck Jones]] shorts, 21 [[Bob Clampett]] shorts, 21 [[Friz Freleng]] shorts, seven [[Frank Tashlin]] shorts, six [[Tex Avery]] shorts, six [[Robert McKimson]] shorts, and two Art Davis shorts.
