While we're at it, may as well ask the same questions about Shotacon. (And, in my case, give the same answers.)

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

I would say if we did allow examples, it should be restricted only to fictional examples only, they need to be only descriptive enough to state why this trope applies, and the page should be tightly monitored for anyone writing with one hand, but that's only if we allow examples.

Me, simply stating mere facts without editorializing sounds acceptable and if kept objective and free from one-handed editing, should pass legal muster in every western nation I'm aware of and a fair majority of non-western nations, but IANAL.

That said, I would not oppose in the slightest retaining the ban on examples.

HLIAA14YOG (talkcontribs)

I have no idea why we should ban examples. The Omnicidal Maniac trope is full of examples, or, in a less monumental manner, the Ax-Crazy one.

In five seconds I could add Araragi from the Monogatari series by example. I just think example pages should only be filled to the minimum.

The trope don't squicks me out, as you can see by my edit history, but that is not what we're discussing here. We're a wiki, we're meant to give basic information.

Obviously I won't agree to put any actual examples of Lolicon/Shotacon (given that we can't even add visual illustrations of these tropes if we want to keep with the No Lewdness No Prudishness policy), but I guess that we could put examples about the tropes being discussed or referenced without getting full Paedo Hunt and point out whose works in this wiki may have those tropes (because we did keep the articles for Lotte no Omocha, Kodomo no Jikan, Boku no Pico and other controversial works starring sexualized preteens).

Utini501 (talkcontribs)

I think HLIAA14YOG and Geth both have the right idea. As far as I'm concerned there's nothing wrong with cataloguing basic information, so long as editors don't get pervy about it.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

I think refusing to list examples from fiction is a violation of our embrace of academic freedom. Also, in listing examples, I think it's absolutely vital that we do something that we don't always do on other trope pages, and that's explore the storytelling function of those examples. Why are they in that story? What purpose do they serve? This page should not be just a list of works, but more than any other on the wiki delve into the function the examples serve in the stories where they're found.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

I do not disagree with any of your argument LT.
