Should this page have the "No Real Life Examples, please" tag?

It was listed on the No Real Life Examples, Please page that we inherited from TV Tropes. (No link because Derivative and I are working on replacing that page with a category.) However, the page itself doesn't have the matching category, or a reason why it specifically shouldn't have Real Life examples.

This Troper, speaking without his moderator hat on, thinks that the request for no real life examples is just an example of TVT control-freakery - it appears to me that somebody didn't like the idea and thus banned it altogether. ATT doesn't work that way.

It isn't as if these songs don't exist, or don't get airplay - quite the opposite, in fact.

So... Real Life examples of Bawdy Songs: yes or no? And why?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

"No real life examples" on this trope is stupid. Yes, this is TV Tropes control freakery, of the most brain-damaged kind. Kill it with fire.

Utini501 (talkcontribs)

Speaking as a very vocal opponent of TV Tropes control freakery, I can actually see where they're going with this: thanks to the music section covering real life examples of this trope, a dedicated real life section would be redundant.

That's not to say that I agree with an outright ban, but I'm having a hard time thinking of reasons to implement a real life section since any examples would already be covered elsewhere on the page. Then again, I'm running on three hours of sleep so I may just be too tired to see an obvious justification.

HeneryVII (talkcontribs)

I agree with Looney Toons, I see no justification for cutting Real Life examples.

Derivative (talkcontribs)

The fact this has a music section makes the NRL passage contradictory, no objection to the removal.

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

Based on my reading of the article, there doesn't need to be any music involved (as poems are permissible), but that those could go in Literature. I assumed NRL example meant don't make a NRL example section.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

Concur with LT, control freakery is nonsense here.

Lequinni (talkcontribs)

Well, the music section is actually where the real examples of the trope should be, and the non-musicalized ones should be on the category of the media where they first appeared. "Real life" examples are redundant. Move the ones there into the correspondent Music, Literature, New Media or Standup Comedy category, and nuke the control freakery.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Control-freakery has been nuked - this page is no longer on the "No Real Life Examples, Please" page that we inherited from TV Tropes.

Does anyone have time to do the example cleanup that @Lequinni suggested immediately above?
