- Ensemble Darkhorse: Possibly Cort Enaran, who went on to appear in multiple other Star Trek novels, and ascended to the Federation Council as Betazed's representative. He gets a sub-plot of some importance in later arcs, including Star Trek: A Time to... and Star Trek: Articles of the Federation.
