Rupert Bear/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Beam Me Up, Scotty: Despite what you may have heard, the character's official name is Rupert Bear, not Rupert the Bear. The latter came from the title song to the original 70's TV adaptation, and the misnomer was spread further by the fact that the song was reused for the 80's series and the Nelvana series.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Canadian Julie Lemieux as the title character. Doubles as a Fake Brit.
  • Dawson Casting
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: Canadians will recognize Bill's voice as Torquil Campbell, lead singer of the rock band Stars. Which makes his Hollywood Tone Deaf all the more amusing.
