Punch an' Pie/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Acceptable Inevitable Targets: There's a good chance that if you see an elderly customer, employee or job applicant, that character will be a Cloudcuckoolander.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: It is pretty much left up to the readers to side with either Angela or Heather as to who was "responsible" for the breakup; while both characters are incredibly neurotic, there are plenty of readers who relate to one and demonize the other. This includes things like interpreting Heather's behavior to find justification for Angela's suspicions of cheating or demonizing Angela for her denseness and insecurity. This is made even more interesting because each of them blames herself for the breakup, although they are both a little blind to which of their particular flaws were to blame.
  • Angst? What Angst?: Angela attempts to cope with the breakup this way. The angst occasionally bubbles up, revealing that she's plenty affected by the breakup with Heather despite the layers of denial.
  • Creator's Pet: Judging by the blog on the comic's Web site, a significant (or at least vocal) portion of the fandom sees Heather as this because she takes up as much panel time as Angela — to the exclusion of Angela — despite not being a carry-over from Queen of Wands. These fans also complain that Heather is too boring because she continues to dwell on Angela so much (which is actually an important characterization point) and that her constant introspection comes across as Wangst. Your Mileage May Vary; she seems to be much better-liked by people who never read Queen of Wands and don't think of the comic as Angela and Friends.
  • Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: Parodied. Book critics interpret Justin's book as an allegorical commentary on gang violence. His response: "DUDE I LIKED BATS AND GUNS."
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Woah. No no, that's okay, I wasn't planning on going to sleep tonight...or, like, ever again.
  • Unfortunate Implications: Very likely unintended, but one can read badly about girl/girl relationships due to the fact that both Angela and Heather have shown interest in a guy after the breakup. Of course, Angela's Ship Tease with Justin is still on the "Won't" side of Will They or Won't They?, and Heather ditches Aiden for Lucy.
