Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: In the last episode of News Radio that aired before his death, Hartman addresses the audience as himself (not McNeil) about a cast member (Dave Foley) having gotten killed. This scene is cut in syndication.
    • In his last episode as an SNL cast member, he and Chris Farley spoofed "So Long, Farewell" from The Sound of Music in the last sketch of the night. Both died within six months of each other (Hartman in May 1998, Farley in December 1997).
    • One Saturday Night Live sketch had Hartman as Bill Clinton depicted as a victim of domestic violence by his wife, Hillary (played by Jan Hooks). It's not so funny now, since Hartman himself was in an abusive relationship with his wife and paid for it with his life.
    • Another SNL example that's now not so funny anymore because of what happened to Hartman is the monologue of the second (and last) time he hosted the show, where he tells the audience that the money he earned from being cast on News Radio and his guest spots on The Simpsons has finally bought him his family's affection. Guess money really can't buy happiness...
