Percy Jackson & the Olympians/Tear Jerker

Percy has led an extremely hard life prior to Camp Half-Blood, exchanging one boarding school after another. His home life is nothing short of an overworked mother who loves him very and an indifferent stepfather who smokes and gambles a lot. In the beginning of the first book, a simple trip to Montauk ends in tragedy when a minotaur arrives and takes her to the underworld. Then he has to adjust to living in Camp Half-Blood where he finds out he's a demigod. Then there's the accusation of him being the Lightning Thief, having to face many monsters....it's all too much.
