Ninjago/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Broken Base: Over Lloyd being the Green Ninja. Many were expecting Kai or Zane to be the one awarded the title.
    • Also over the increased amount of sci-fi elements in the series, particularly the Ninja getting their vehicles in Snakebit and Zane turning out to be a Nindroid in Tick Tock.
  • Complete Monster: Pythor
    • The Great Devourer. He is the evil incarnate and we find out that he bit Lord Garmadon, which made him evil and is behind all evil in the Ninjago.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: A lot of the music is incredible (listen to some of it here), but some music stands out in particular.
    • The music as the Ninja pursue the falcon in "Tick Tock" makes the falcon's strings-based Leitmotif incredibly dramatic.
    • Also the track "Zane's True Potential" from the same episode
  • Fridge Horror:Pythor's pretty much been digested by the Great Devourer. And he has been stated to be the last of the Anacondrai. The Serpentine just lost one of their tribes.
  • Idiot Ball: Sensei Wu sending the four ninja away so he can face Pythor alone, because "it's his destiny". Yeah, letting yourself be killed in front of your students and friends is kinda stupid.
    • Not to mention that all of them together against Pythor alone would've been a Curb Stomp Battle, all but guaranteeing that the Great Devourer wouldn't be revived. Of course, his students then proceed to pick up the Idiot Ball themselves, by forgetting that they've got their own vehicles and a Humongous Mecha which can fly, instead waiting for Lloyd to show up with the airship several minutes later before chasing after Pythor and Wu.
  • Lawful Evil: Pythor wants to cause peace for his tribes and get revenge on the people who imprisoned him by unleashing the Great Devourer.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Pythor P. Chumsworth
  • Memetic Mutation: GOLDEN CHAINSAW STAFFS!!! (It's a reference to the LEGO Space Ice Planet 2002 theme, which featured the unique and similarly memetic ORANGE TRANSPARENT CHAINSAW.)
  • Narm/Narm Charm: It's a little hard to take some of the plot twists seriously when the characters are still cute-as-a-button Mini-Figures. This doesn't take away awesome moments, however, and the characters usually act normal and not like they live in some toy-chest.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Lord Garmadon being struck by lightning and being turned into his present form.
    • Pythor's tomb. As if the bones scattered everywhere wasn't enough, its implied he ate the other members of his tribe!
    • The Great Devourer.
  • Periphery Demographic
  • Uncanny Valley: Lord Garmadon having glowing red eyes in human form!
  • The Woobie: Zane's No Social Skills, background as orphan unlike all the rest, and frustration others have because of his different ways can make him this at times.
    • Averted now that he knows where he came from.
