Born Percy Robert Miller (1967-), New Orleans Hip Hop entrepreneur Master P is respected for his industry success, And sometimes for his music. He is best known for his trademark Frankenstein Monster Grunt:

His record label, No Limit, was extremely successful in the late 1990s, but crashed and burned at the Turn of the Millennium thanks in large part to the more polished Cashmoney label, another polarizing group. In 2005, Master P founded a new label, Guttar Music. No Limit was known for its incredibly minimalist production style, mixed with very gritty southern rap music. Which extended to Master P's film productions. At the time however the minimalist style was very appealing in the wake of overly produced and glossy Hip Hop spearheaded by Puff Daddy (called the shiny suit era). The label also produced several classic southern rap songs and albums. Master P (along with UGK, Eightball & MJG) and the label for all intents and purposes started the down south boom which eventually spread to Houston. Giving spot light to acts like DJ Screw and the Screwed Up Click. A lot of the south's mainstream success can be traced back to the No Limit era.
