Kao no Nai Tsuki (visual novel)
A 2000 Hentai Visual Novel by ROOT, Kao no nai Tsuki is about an amnesiac guy who for the first time in how long can see woman's faces.
Kouichi Hayama is a Japanese college student who is unable to recognize the face of women. Though he knows their shape and knows who those women are through other features, all he sees when he stares at women's faces are shadows. Kouichi's biological parents died when he was young, and his step-parents died just recently.
He also suffers of recurring visions of some mysterious little girl that also results in bouts of amnesia. To try to resolve his problems, he goes back to his hometown along his cultural studies' professor Motoyama, under the recommendation of the college psychology teacher Chikako, that travels with them.
Waking up from yet another vision and bout of amnesia, he wakes up in bed with a beautiful girl in a skimpy priestess outfit. To his shock, he can see woman's faces now. Thanks to some nasty comments he delivers at the vision of the girl's dress, the girl slaps him, leaving a maid to explain he is on her family's residence, the mansion of the Kuraki family.
He is taken to the girl's mother and headmistress of the house, Yuriko Kuraki, and Motoyama. They explain he is engaged to this girl, called Suzuna, in order to become Lord of the region ruled by the Kuraki family, a title who the husband of the priestess acquires through marriage, and it will be treated as such from now on. He was selected to be her husband because of his position as a close relative, and because Suzuna's father is dead, leaving the position vacant. He is opposed to this and even wants to immediately depart, but both Yuriko and Motoyama try to sell him on the advantages of the position. Specially at his newfound healthiness.
Kouichi does find the environment enjoyable, though his bride's fierce temper annoys him, since she focuses in attacking his character to try to undo the marriage of happening. He also discovers through Yuriko that he can do "anything", but is confused at how much power he have.
And with more pleasant ladies around like the maids Tomomi and Sayaka, should he really marry Suzuna Kuraki?
Adapted into a 2001 anime of the same name, translated as Moonlight Lady on English.

- A Date with Rosie Palms: The lead up for the first sex scene with Suzuna on her route is Kouchi observing her masturbating on her room.
- Absurdly Youthful Mother: Yuriko looks like she in her twenties despite her daughter being over eighteen already.It is justified when it's revealed she is a ghost who has been dead for years.
- Arranged Marriage: Between Kouichi and Suzuna so Suzuna can properly ascent to her priestess' position, and so the position of Lord held by Suzuna's dead father is filled by Kouichi. Both are against it.
- Babies Ever After: At the end of Suzuna's route, she is pregnant of three months.
- Bare Your Midriff: Chikako walks around on a outfit that exposes her belly button
- Big Fun: Motoyama has a large gut and is a pleasant, if perverted middle-aged man.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Sayaka has odd behaviour like humming random noise and pretending to be a car while cleaning a floor. She is also able to make herself sound like a cougar perfectly in order to seduce Kouichi
- Dead All Along: Yuriko has been dead for years. She has managed to hypnotize everybody around the mission in thinking she was still alive and ruled over the house.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Io is very feminine looking, to the point Motoyama shows attraction to him.
- Foreshadowing: When he first meets the actual headmistress Chiyo Kuraki (Yuriko is only a member of the family by marriage), Kouichi notices she looks like she having seen an ghost. That ghost is Yuriko, who was coming along to the meeting.
- Genki Girl: Sayaka is permanently lively.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Suzuna is in her late teens and still have a stuffed teddy bear to carry around.
- Hime Cut: The women of the Kuraki family all have this hairstyle with exception of grandma Chiyo.
- Hot Mom: Yuriko is very pleasant to the eyes for a mother of a teenage girl.
- Hot Teacher: Chikako is a curvy pretty college psychology teacher.
- Kissing Cousins: If the player choose so, Kouichi may try to romance Suzuna, his cousin.
- Making Love in All the Wrong Places: In Suzuna's route, she and Kouichi have sex on the kitchen.
- Meganekko: Tomomi fits this to a T, having huge glasses and shy.
- Naked Apron: In Suzuna's route, she wears that while having sex with Kouichi on the kitchen.
- Overly Long Gag: At 16 August, Motoyama goes on an extended rant about his problems, always starting every statement with "why" after Kouichi's doubts and being forced to clean a floor becomes too much to his nerves.
- Perfectly Arranged Marriage: Sort of in Suzuna's route. Turns out Yuriko never engaged Kouichi with her daughter since she was dead, but Kouichi nonetheless follows her plans on that route and Suzuna and him become engaged, making her go away peacefully and happy at her daughter's fate.
- Rapunzel Hair: Both Yuriko and Suzuna have hair going down their waist.
- Stripperiffic: Suzuna's priestess outfit. Is lampshaded by Kouchi that aggressively refers to it as something a prostitute would wear.
- Tsundere: As her route goes on, Suzuna constantly goes between mood swings towards Kouichi.
- Zettai Ryouiki: Suzuna is a Grade B, at least when she's wearing her casual clothes.
