  • Narm: The Thanksgiving dinner, when the kids keep interrupting Dave's prayers by dropping stuff on the floor. Dave discovering what's in the kids' clubhouse can also be made a bit narmish if you remember he's still wearing his pink Easter bunny suit. Also, this synopsis:

"In the remote woods of upstate New York, the Poe Family lives a Norman Rockwell life. Perfect house. Perfect marriage. If only the children stopped stapling frogs to trees."

  • Squick: All the dead animals seen throughout the film, and Dave mentioning he caught the kids chowing down on raw beef.
  • What an Idiot!: Even though they've shown severe mental instability and violent tendencies, and they were caught seemingly in the middle of being about to vivisect Christian, the authorities leave Jack and Emily at home with their parents, because it's Easter and they're minors.
  • The Woobie: The parents, and the kids' main target, Christian McNamara.
