He-Man and the Masters of the Universe/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Hey, It's That Voice!:
    • Most notable in the 2002 version. Duncan/Man-At-Arms is Optimus Primal, Grounder, and Slash Teela is Relena Peacecraft and Felicia and Evil-Lyn is Dot Matrix and Morrigan.
    • Leonardo and Liquid Snake are Prince Adam/He-Man.
    • Mer-Man has Waspinator's voice coming out his mouth.
    • Interestingly, Scott McNeil and Gary Chalk both had previous He-Man experience; Chalk voiced Alcon and He-Man himself in The New Adventures of He-Man, and McNeil was Flipshot and BH.
    • In the original Filmation version, He-Man was previously Reggie Mantle.
    • Executive producer Lou Scheimer (who went by the psudonym "Erik Gunden") made it a regular thing to do voices in his company's shows (one of the more notable examples being Dumb Donald), and this one was no exception. Here he plays Orko, King Randor, and Trap Jaw.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There were plans for a prequel to both MotU and She-Ra featuring an ancestor of the main characters, He-Ro. Yeah, those never saw the light of day, but He-Ro has recently[when?] been released as part of the MotU Classics toyline.
    • Similarly, Vikor, He-Man of the North, is a MOTU classics figure based on the earliest stage of what would become He-Man's design.
    • There were also plans for a sequel to the live-action movie too, which got as far as early production. However, due to monetary issues Canon Films lost the rights to the franchise and the whole project, along with the cancelled Canon Film's Spider-Man production assets, eventually turned into Albert Pyun's Cyborg
    • Plans for a third season of the 2002 series included Hordak returning and conquering Eternia. He-Man and the Masters would've essentially become a resistance movement and Skeletor would've also been at odds with Hordak.
    • She-Ra was also to make an appearance.
    • The Monogram figure kit line was almost cancelled in favor of another project (which didn't itself see the light of day): a 1/25 scale Dodge Diplomat police car.
