Main Characters
Noriko Takaya
Our Heroine, who is the daughter of a spaceship captain who was lost in space. She wants to go into space to find him... but the only route open to her is as a mecha pilot, and Noriko has trouble with piloting mecha... until Kazumi Amano comes to her rescue and convinces the school's coach to give her additional training.
Tropes exhibited by Noriko include:
- Ace Pilot: Becomes one over the course of the series.
- Action Girl
- Adorkable
- Ascended Fangirl:
- In the science lesson shorts, she reveals that she's a big Getter Robo fan.
- In the tenth-anniversary science lesson shorts, she reveals that she's a big Sailor Moon fan, too. You don't get much more heroic tham what she did in the series' climax.
- Badass
- Badass Adorable
- Badass Arm-Fold: Arguably the Trope Codifier in Japan.
- Took a Level in Badass: Quite possibly one of the best examples. Compare her performance in episode one with that in episode four.
- Smash Sisters: With Kazumi.
- Break the Cutie: Breaks pretty quickly in Episode 1, and breaks again in episode 3-4, before Taking Her Levels In Badass.
- Calling Your Attacks: Enough over the course of just six episodes that she became Goddess of the trope on TV Tropes.
- Cute Clumsy Girl
- The Danza: Voiced by Noriko Hidaka.
- Gainaxing: The Trope Codifier.
- Hot-Blooded: Even more so when you consider that she's the basis for Simon.
- Iron Woobie: Wasn't iron at all when things started out, but come episode 4....
- Red-Headed Heroine: Although it's a really dark shade that borders on brown sometimes.
- Rousing Speech: Gives one to Kazumi in episode 5, combined with a verbal Bright Slap.

- Smash Sisters: With Noriko.
- Cool Big Sis: Goddess of the trope. She's actually referred to as "oneesama" more than by her own name!
- May-December Romance: Is in love with Coach Ohta, who was an officer on the Exelion with Noriko's dad.
- World Of Cardboard Monologue
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
