  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: The video tape scene. Jackie keeps insisting they should make a sex tape and Aldous says he doesn't want to, because he just wants to lie there and kiss her.
    • The fact that the first song of the concert at the end of the movie was the one that his father suggested he open the concert with.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: Infant Sorrow's songs alternate between catchy, hilarious, or both.

    • Don't forget the songs that are downright Tearjerkers. Like Searching for a Father.
    • It makes sense that the music is awesome when you take into account that they had help from the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Carl Barât.
  • Ear Worm: "I've the clap! You've got the clap!" Or, "Stroke the furry wall!"
    • Pretty much all of the Infant Sorrow songs are these: "Why won't you call and come home? Please call and come home..." & "Can you hear what's going on? I'm comin up...I'm comin' up...I'm comin' up...I'm comin' u-u-u-u-up!"
    • Also, both Jackie Q's songs are incredibly catchy.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: P. Diddy's turn as deranged record exec Sergio Roma, to the degree that some are clamoring to give him a spinoff!
  • Moral Event Horizon: Sergio Roma crosses this when he tries to get Aaron Green to give Aldous painkillers for his broken arm, rather than cancelling the concert and getting him proper medical attention.
  • Tear Jerker: The scene where Jackie confesses that Aldous is not the real father of her son.
    • As well as the scene when, after nearly committing suicide, Aldous tearfully admits that he is sad and lonely.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Elisabeth Moss is fairly good looking while Jonah Hill is downright unattractive. In Hill's defence Aaron spends the majority of the film exhausted, stressed out and drugged up so he was probably deliberately made up to look uglier than normal, but even so the disparity in their attractiveness is noticeable.
    • The attraction from her side is explained a little after he makes a joke and she smiles and says "You're funny." and drifts off to sleep.
    • Still very much this trope. Countless movies have taught us that funniness in a man can outweigh any physical unattractiveness. Not so much for women, of course.
    • Well, Jonah Hill CAN look good at times, even if he is overweight. Thing is, in this movie Hill is downright OBESE. Whereas he was just "fat" in Superbad, Sarah Marshall, and Walk Hard, Hill had seriously put on the pounds since and it really outweighed his attractiveness.
    • This one's definitely a case of YMMV, as there are quite a few people who think Hill looked very good in this film (it helps that he lost the Jew-fro). Also, "fat" and "attractive" are not mutually exclusive.
  • What Do You Mean It's Not Political?: "Funny in'nt? You get rich, and everything comes free."
